Yes, that's a big number, but in 2006 they contributed about $430 billion in taxes; not sure about 2008. The question becomes whether we can completely secure the border with the $90 billion difference and if we're willing to pay that much.

Keep in mind your great great grandparents were not born here and most of our familys came from another country to be living here. I am for sure against the money spent on Illegal aliens comforts as our ancestors didn't have that kind of assistance with food stamps and housing like the aliens get today. I have a nieghbor down the street from Pakistan who has 5 kids and drives a taxi in Annapolis and he speaks very very broken english. How the hell did he get a license. How do most of the taxi drivers in NYC get their licenses? I think all illegal aliens should get 6 months to get their act together and if they are not paying taxes and are on welfare after that period than ship their butts back to where they came from. You would think with 90 billion dollars we could secure our borders a little better...Or not spend 10 billion on a :"bridge to nowhere" and other stupid pork projects.......

Just think of how much they would pay if they were here legally.

I'll bet we wouldn't have to secure our borders, if other governments provided for there own people.

True, but people will always be attracted to the land of Bose and honey. :)

Jokes aside, here's my take on the situation (at least for today...well, for right now):

I'm not against people in general. People who want to try and make a better life for themselves and work for it - that's good stuff. If someone comes here, does work, doesn't put any burden on our financial structure, and wants to send money back home - I've got no problem with that. Americans are very generous in helping out other countries, so the situation of someone sending money back home to their families seems to fall into the same area for me.

What I am against are people who take advantage of the system and extract resources at the expense of others. I don't care if the freeloaders are illegal aliens or U.S. citizens - a thief is a thief. I am quite bothered by the illegal alien part because being this close to Mexico, I hear stories from friends in the medical field about illegals putting a strain on the medical system here and then just going back to Mexico. Apparently, they cannot be denied care. Yet, I have elderly friends down the street who suffer because the system bounces them around before ever helping them, probably because of insurance rules. Torques me off.

The attitude of entitlement aggravates me. I think that's a big difference between the first group that I described (who work for and earn what they have) and the second group (who take from others).

Very well said my friend!

You have encapsulated politics, it's class warfare, and why people vote the way they do; all in one sentence.

As I recall President Bush wanted to give all these illegal aliens full amnesty.

Would that make it ok?

Getting back to the original point, how much are we spending on the banking bail outs and the war, and how does that compare to illegal aliens?

This same thing could be said in many countries... I lived two years in Australia and it's absolutely the same there, the border is under immense pressure by illegal immigrants from China.... people may end up shipwreck at a beah downunder asking, is this Australia? ........ OK, can you book me a Taxi?

The question is the same there, in the US, in Norway, in all of EU. Why do we want to spend money on cheaters trying to break the system? Problem it is equally bad here and all over Europe...

And worst problem, many can't be sent back because we don't even know where they come from, they throw away everything that may identify them....

This is hard and it annoys the hell out of me that descent honest people do not get their chance every now and then because of law breaking idiots :mad:

This is oversimplifying the problem ref my previous post, all civilized countries have this same problem, albeit to a much larger extent in the US, because it's a much bigger country, but you cannot put the blame on others and say that this is why this is a problem in US.
