Ugliest speakers ever

There are some products out there that I think are so out of proportion, expensive and so ugly that I wonder why anybody buy them, the Wilson Alexandria, for instance... how is it possible to make such a tasteless bad looking thing.....

Sure there are many similar things......

Good god, they look like something out of a Dr. Who episode... :D

In the right room (large, modern), I think they would look great. They're expensive, no doubt about that. Overall, though, I think the look is OK; just different than traditional speakers.

My 2 year old daughter thought they were robots, so I can't argue with the Dr. Who reference.:D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? ;)

Along those line, I'm still hoping to meet the right female beholder. :D

They're okay. They look very expensive, and like OttoMatic said, in the right house, they would look okay, not the blue ones though.....those are hideous!!

I see you have Von Schweikerts on you signature, now these are some awesome sounding speakers, one of the best I've ever listend to. Definently worldclass. Wingnut you're no joke, I bet your system got to sound awesome.

I must agree 100%, heard the Vr4 Jr play fantastic, through A Messenger preamp and Spectron Musician amps, really really nice :D:D:D:D

I also think the Sunny majestic speakers are, what can I say

If you get these in the door, I think chances of getting a lady in the same door is quite microscopic

They are so large that they come with a door at the backside so that the mechanic can easily do servicing work....

No LOL Adam I need a million to build a house in Costa Rica with aocean view and a 800d surround rig with Levinson amps and Pre's. I also want a pool in my bedroom. It doesn't have to be big or anything 45" by 100" no biggie.....

What do they cost 1 million?
The sunny majestic is close to $100.000 :eek:
I think the Wilson Alexandria is about $ 150.000 :eek:

Not even close to a million, but severely overpriced if you ask me, the Wilson's uses "X" and "M" type cabinet materials that's sth like 25 times as expensive as mdf, It's not 25 times better than mdf, I even seriously doubt that it's better than mdf or plywood or whatever..... I'm quite sure that many of the current forums members could easily make designs that betters the Alexandia for less than a tenth the price of these incredible monsters......

If you look at measured performance, the frequency response looks something like grand canyon, very non-linear and the tweeter has significant resonances and rings like a whistle at 20KHz, don't tell me that we cannot hear such resonances.....

Well I don't have measurements of Alexandria, but look at the measured performance of Wilson Maxx 2, horrible !!!!

How the h... can they call this a well engineered product !

I wouldn't mind the house either, but I'd fine much more attractive speakers to stick in it.

Wow I didn't notice, the house is incredibly nice indeed :cool:

And if there are any Wilson owners out there, it's not my intention to offend you, this is just my personal opinion about these products....
