Made some dramatic changes to my equipment lineup, so figured I would start a new thread altogether, and post the pics. :)

This is the new family room HT, complete with the new 50" Panny.

Respect the brand... :p

Still need a few more upgrades down here:

And still have those old JBL's on the wall for my surrounds... soon to be the front SBS-01's, when I get my dual SCS-01's from SVS to complete the front soundstage. :D

Looks great, Halon! I use to have a plant just like that for years...but my green thumb was not mighty enough, and it is no more. I'm guessing that the ball on the floor is for the pooch?

Very nicely laid out. Clean, yet homey. Do those table lamps reflect off of the screen very much?

Very nice Halon. BTW, how do u like userability of the TV. My in-laws were looking to get a flat panel and I suggested the Panny. There not "techy people" as we would call it. So lm trying to find something that's easy to set up or that looks great out of the box.
Thanks

That looks good. Seems like it should score high on WAF.

Ha, yes - good call. The ball is definitely one of pooch's toys, and one of his favorites I might add, next to a couple of Kongs lying about somewhere, off camera. :D

Actually the lamps aren't that bad - I had the same hesitations at first, but so far haven't had too many problems. Usually, when watching actual movies, we'll turn the lights off anyway. :)

Probably not, as I had to drill holes into the JBL's to make the hinge system work, and would rather not so this with the SBS's. Obviously, due to limited space, my options are likewise limited, but looking at possibly fashioning some very short stands to place them on each end table, to get them up to roughly ear-level - might work, but still taking some measurements, and of course factoring in the WAF. :)

The TV is probably one of the most user-friendly sets I've worked with - it did look very good right out of the box, but as we all know - anything good is worth tweaking until it's great! :D The menu system is very easy to navigate and easy to understand for non-"techy" people - and does have the ability to auto-detect HDMI, when connected and will select this as the primary source, which can be either pretty cool, or a pain in the a$$ if you have multiple sources connected through different means. I'd say your in-laws would not have a problem with this TV at all - they're likely not "tweakers" like we are, they'd be able to set it up right out of the box and be very happy with it. :)

Yes! :D I took a day off from work a couple Fridays ago, and got rid of all the old stuff, and moved this new stuff in, so it was already set up when she came home from work herself. I was a little nervous that she would think the TV is "way too big".. but she knew I wanted at least a 50". She loved it as soon as she walked in - said it looks tons better than the old setup - shown here for comparison: :D

I love those before and after pic's:D. Heh .. I couldn't wait to get rid of our wall unit and go with something similar which helps to open up the room and everything looks great.

Goodwork, Bill:)

I does look very good. Did you notice any change in SQ with the removal of the entertainment center? I did when I changed mine. It opened up the sound more for me, but I had my speakers muck closer to the EC's surface than you did.:)

Well, hard to say - maybe a little. The center channel does appear to be a little less choked, and seems much better placed now that it's under the display and angled up so that the tweeter is directly on-axis with the listening area of the couch. The front left and right channels I haven't really noticed any difference, they had plenty of room around them with the old setup to notice a significant change in sq. :)

It looks like a whole new room, nice job Halon!
The WAF would have to be high, just on the looks alone.
You've even gone the extra mile, and have the Food Network on.:)

I was just WAITING for someone to point that out!! :D Nothing says "Wife Acceptance" like being able to watch her cooking shows in full HD! :D Yeah, she loves it, whether she shows her excitement as much as I do or not... :p

Sit down and enjoy the music.... or movies....
Yes, yes, yes... :D And I have been - I think the combined effect of the Panny and the SVS sub during the movie Iron Man was enough to even make my wife utter the word I've been waiting so long to hear from her regarding my HT obsession... "Wow..".

I win! :D

LOL... yes, thank you. :D That thing was an abomination and when I hauled the new TV in, I couldn't get it out of my house fast enough. :)

The SVS speakers... I am very happy with them, having had them now for (eh... ) close to a year? There is always better I suppose, but I have developed a rather love affair with SVS in general - good, clean powerful sound, and I have grown fond of the sturdy, rugged simplicity that these things offer the overall aesthetic. As mentioned though - I'll be relegating the fronts to the back to pull surround duty as soon as I get around to ordering the SCS-01 stereo pair for the L/R channels, and I think I will be extremely pleased with the results. :) I won't even get into the sub - the thing is a beast, it slays dragons. I might have only been happier could I have afforded an Ultra! :p
