I found out at a family reunion that I'm related to Louis Riel. Could ya tell? :D

So that's where that comes from?:D

Happy Thanksgiving all Canadians!;)
So, when did Columbus discover Canada?
I thought everybody knew that Canada was discovered by the Vikings hundreds of years before Columbus. But it turns out that even the Vikings thought the weather here sucked, so they left.;)

Happy Thanksgiving to all our neighbors to the north. Do you eat turkey on Thanksgiving as most of us do? If so, remember you are what you eat.:p

Have a great holiday.

As most of you probably don't know:)p), Canada celebrates Thanksgiving at a different time then the US. Nevertheless, the values and feelings towards this occasion are the same.
You guys up north are always trying to get in on our American traditions.

How do you guys feel about The Stanley Cup being in the USA?

LOL :D

Isn't it an American holiday that celebrates the Pilgrims sitting down for dinner with the Indians before they chased them off their land and killed them all?
Everyone deserves a good meal before they get whacked.

Our thanksgiving dinner consists of (all homemade, nothing from a box or can)

Roast Turkey
Gravy
Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce
Butter Cup Squash
Mashed Potatoes
Creamed Onions (sounds gross but it is one of my absolute favorites:))
Roasted Beets and Carrots
Mixed Green Salad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie with Cinnamon and Vinalla Bean Flavoured Whipped Cream
Ice Cream
Your quote "defrosting the turkey". Nothing fresh about that.

If the turkey is frozen properly (no freezer burn), fully thawed then cooked vs a fresh turkey from the grocery store, I would be hard pressed for you to notice any meaningful difference between the two in a blind tasting. There is nothing wrong using a frozen turkey, the only hassle is that it takes a couple of days to properly thaw in the fridge.

Can't have a conversation about anything around here without "blind testing" coming up!:D

I have had both fresh and frozen turkeys and I wouldn't be able to pick which one out myself. The grocery stores have sales on the fresh whole turkeys after thanksgiving as well, so you can get awesome deals on them after the fact. Bring them home freeze them and then they are ready to go for another occasion. For the price difference it is a no brainer for me personally.
