Roku soundbridge wi-fi help

I'm trying to get my Soundbridge to connect to my wireless internet at the house but I'm running into a problem. It "sees" the connection but when I enter the WEP key(I have done it multiple times so I know I'm entering it correctly) and hit ok, it reboots but it still will not connect. I've added the TCP and UDP ports to my firewall with no luck.

I have a linksys WRT54GS router which according to the Roku website is compatible.

Just the other day I was able to get the PS3 to connect with no issues.

Any ideas?

Well it looks like this Soundbridge (M1000) is a "B" wireless model while my router is a "G".

Guess I'm going to BB tomorrow and picking up one of those game adapters/wireless bridges for this to work.

I may do this but crawling 50ft in each direction under my house is not one of my favorite activities....that's where the black widows like to hang out and I don't do spiders.:p

Are you sure you just don't have your router set to "G-Only" mode instead of "both" or "mixed"? Your router should support both 802.11b and 802.11g. NOTE: You supposedly get better overall performance if you use "G-only" mode.

You most likely have your router set to g only mode as it has already been suggested.

As far as the comment about music streaming and wired it really depends on what you are using. I set up a Squeezebox Duet the other day with the music stored on a Netgear ReadyNAS DUO running squeezecenter. The streaming works flawlessly. The person uses itunes to rip the music on his PC and the music is stored remotely on the NAS.

Thanks! That was the problem, I went into the router and changed it to mixed mode and now it's working great.

If the performance is degraded too badly, is there another option I can look into? (besides wired)

Other than using an ethernet wireless bridge, you really have no other choice than going wired. Either that or going for a squeezebox duet.

How would I configure a bridge on a WEP protected connection? I believe the Roku will see it as being wired so I won't be able to configure the bridge through that.

The wireless bridge has a web interface where you set it up just like you set up routers. The Roku will think you are using ethernet and the bridge will convert the signal to wireless and transmit to your wireless router.
