I think the Behringers are powered, so, wouldn't he just connect them to the pre-outs? Doesn't the P stand for power? Or am I think of another speaker?
There are two models of the Behringer 2030 monitors, the 2030P and the 2030A. The 2030P is a passive unit meaning it is not powered while the 2030A is an active one with internal amps.

As a former Magnolia Pro with Best Buy, I would recommend, as far as Klipsch goes, that you go with nothing less than the Reference series. With employee accommodations the entire surround system only ends up being $150-200 more than the Synergy series and it is a significant upgrade. But I would also listen closely to what Chris has to say, I have heard those speakers and for the price, you really just can't beat them, especially in the area of accurate sound reproduction (they are after all designed to be studio monitors). Hope this helps a bit, and have fun with the choosing process.

First of all thank you everyone for the recomendations. I think for now I am going to get the reference series speakers and a different sub (have not decided yet) and then possibly down the road in a few years I will upgrade to a really good system.

Good Luck on the "r" series. As for the setup chris mentioned, dollar to performance, your next upgrade might night rival it;)

What about the JBL's? Something like the L890's, L880 or ES90, LC2 center and a JBL sub. Any opinions on these? Better or worse than Klisph Reference?

This thread began wanting fl,fr,sr, & sl for $600.

Now we are talking about a complete 5.1 system with no mention of a new budget.

Big Box store speakers suck. There is just no nice way to put it.

Many people on the forums like net only speaker brands. Me, not so much.

Can you please list what you want to purchase, and your budget?

From my limited research on them, they were rated pretty well. JBL is a well known brand, it's not like their speakers are selling out of a van at a parking lot by two unemployed teens.

People can say that a $500 system is crap or a $2,000 system is crap....in the end, its really what your ears and your wallet likes. Speakers are just DAMN speakers in the end...They are nothing special...REALLY....they are just speakers. They are just things that produce sounds...it won't cure cancer or AIDS. So buy what you are comfortable with. Whether its $500 or $500,000.

I don't really have a set budget right now. The JBL's I woudl be looking at about 280 a speaker for the L890. The center would be 200 and I am unsure what I would do for the rears or sub at this point. I am just looking right now trying to get an idea of whats out there.

The amount of good to superb speakers available is unbelievable. To get forum members to actually recommend something that will get you started in the right direction, we must have a total budget for whatever you are looking to purchase now. If you want to get the front three now, then we need a budget. If you want the mains and a sub now, then.....
