One of my favorite Country artists is Alan Jackson. He is one of the few great singer/songwriters left in the country music genre.

Another of my favorites is Keith Whitley.
There you go! It's sad that Keith is no longer around today. Wrote and sang some amazing songs.

Me too.

I cry tears of pain every time I hear it. I couldn't wait for it to end. :(
Steven, To be a fan of George Jones, you have to like country music, even then His music is an aquired taste.:p I dont know how much you have been exposed to his music, but he truely is one of Countrys greatest artists. His nick name is "the Opossum" :D

Peace,
Tommy

Yeah... I can pretty much write a top charting country song in like 2 minutes. How's this about BBQ stains?

I was partying in the backyard,
with me and my dear folks,
we was making some barbeque,
and my shirt was stained real grose,
way down yonder in the bayou,
we partied all night long,
thats when I met my women,
that for today I sing this song.

Her teeth were white, her hair was blond,
she ate my barbeque sauce,
I wouldn't trade that night with her,
for anythin' in the world...

But ten years down the road she left me,
and I haven't been that lonely since,
but today I made some barbeque,
and heard her voice from that bayou summer night...

My hearts been sad and loney now,
since she left my side,
and that barbeque stain on my shirt,
reminds me of those nights.

...touching, I know.
I can honestly say that that was every bit as god as 99% of the country lyrics I have heard!:D

Johnny Cash is a cool cat, I like a lot of his stuff.

How about Shania Twain?

I absolutely love the eagles, i even bought the high way to hell dvd so i can listen in DTS (which is wicked beyond belief).

My partner hates country i am only allowed to play it when she is not there , but on the other hand i am not too keen on her $%^& music. Anyway moving right along i love the classical instrument sound, especially the guitar since i used to play myself, with my dad.

I've always liked a little country.. mostly because all of my ex's made me listen to it in the car and i always find a little something i like..

Keith Urban- Talented guitar and vocalist, worth checking out...

Brad Paisley- Perhaps the best singer/songwriter guitarist in the genre today, well worth checking out...

I'm also a fan of Dierks, Kenny, Little Big Town, and a few others...

Bluegrass fans should check out Nickelcreek-This Side... always goes with me when i audition... some really neat mandolin work...

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the abyss. Used to hate country and still can't say I'm fond of the traditional country & western stuff, but some of the country/pop/rock stuff is quite good.

Stuck on this at the moment:
"Strong" - LeAnn Rimes (HQ Music Video) - YouTube

If you like this song, you should try to get a copy of this CD (Whatever We Wanna). It wasn't released in North America but the whole CD is more rock/pop than country and it's very good.
