Agreed- this is the case of Apple trying to throw their weight around. Will it work- who knows... but I don't think they threaten unless their damn sure it's going to work.

It's sorta like when Wal-Mart (the worlds largest retailer) throws it's weight around. Distributers typically don't play with the biggest in the business (and iTunes is the biggest music retailer). That said, I don't use it and wouldn't miss it. I would rather this 192kbps crap go away totally.;)

My dad loves iTunes, so I wouldn't want it to go away. He buys songs, but he also loves the free material on there (old time radio shows, for example). Probably other places to get them, but he knows how to use iTunes and is very happy with it. He even bought an iPod because of it and learned how to use it quite well (you'd have to know my dad to appreciate that). Because of that, I wouldn't want to see them go away.

The best thing about iTunes is the Podcast system and offerings...

Never ever bought anything off these sites, really don't want this compressed stuff

Only Use EAC (Exact Audio Copy to rip CD's) and lossless compression, like flac
Couldn't care less about iTunes unless they start selling in lossless compression

192 is fine. 128 is the crap.
