My Denon Rack Updated

Yeah, actually you and Russ (I think) got me thinking of how to do this, so I just had to do it.:D
Yeah... I'm starting to get a little depressed about my pedestrian system now. Thanks a lot my friend!

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Elite 94 and going with the Integra pre/pro for now... or at least that's the latest stone in my shoe.

I'm still thinking of the indivdiual preamps and amps, however. I just think that would be stupid cool. I wish I had a different way to display my equipment. I like the way you have thing out in the open. I considered putting the equipement in the cabinet where all my wife's art glass is, but the shelves are only rated for 50 pounds.

Why does this NOT make me want to go out and get BD and move to HD audio???
You know before I experienced DTS-HD MA, I just felt like I had to have it. I think it's human nature - or maybe just Audioholic-nature.:D

Sometimes you just have the desire to experience what everyone else is experiencing.

Now I'll say something that may be controversial, but at least I'll qualify it by saying that it is 100% purely subjective.

Okay, I have the AVP-8000 set up for 5.0 DD/DTS Large Speakers, No Subwoofer. I don't even have the LFE cable connected on the AVP-8000. I just have 5 cables for the Pre-Out. I also have a coaxial cable from the Denon BD player to the AVP-8000.

So anyway, I was watching Transformers BD last night in just 5.0 DD, and I subjective thought it sounded BETTER than 5.1 TrueHD (BD player connected directly to Amp)!!!

I don't know how to eloquently put it. It just sounded better. Was it louder? No. I don't think so. I like listening close to the 90dBC reference level, but I always keep it less than or equal to 85 dBA on the SPL meter.

It just sounded "More".

I thought the BASS was more pronounced. I mean just "more". Maybe less "compressed" sounding? It just sounded "fuller" for some reasons. And this is without the Trinity subwoofer!

It's probably all in my silly head.

Then I watched "Day After Tomorrow" BD in plain DTS. It sounded SO GOOD - every bit as good as DTS-MA. Of course, not better, but just as good IMO.

I may have to try "Iron Man" BD out to see if it is the same case as "Transformers" BD since one reviewer mentioned that the DD soundtrack sounded "better" than the TrueHD soundtrack.

The Integra DTC-9.8/9.9 are extremely nice. The Elite-94 is very nice, but like you said, it's not as "stupid cool".:D

I'm sure some people are asking why I didn't just get a Denon 3808 or even 2808 or similar to use as a Pre-Pro. Afterall, they are a lot more up-to-date than the AVP-8000. But I just wanted a Denon Pre-Pro, not receiver.:D

I may end up still getting the AVP-A1HDCI in a couple of years. My HT piggy bank is low.:D Who knows.

Yeah, my glass shelves are rated for 60 lbs in the middle sections, but 150 lbs for the bottom and top shelves (I think).

50 lb shelves, huh?

You know those Krell Integrated Amps are only like 30 lbs each:D:

I do like those a lot. I always wanted to own Krell... just because. I'm thinking though that if I do make a major upgrade, I'd like to go seperate preamps and amps for no other reason that it becomes an even longer thing to explain to others and that I like the idea of lost of coponents. Silly I know... but that's what makes this stuff fun.

I know what you mean.:D

Imagine 2 audio racks.

Rack #1 contains 3 Krell Preamps, 1 Krell Pre-Pro, & 1 Krell universal player (BD/DVD/CD, SACD/DVD-A).

Rack #2 contains 5 Krell mono-block Amps.

Pure poetic symmetry.:D

I figured you have your 73" Mitsubishi on a cabinet and all those wires behind it?:D
It's on the same stand that my old 50" was on, but you really don't see too many wires... now that I have everything all in place, I should post some pics of my systems in the members gallery.

Yeah, I don't recall ever seeing any pics of your system, ever.:D

Photobucket.com is free and very cool to use. Then you can place the link in your signature just like me and ParadigmDawg.:D

Yeah, I have a photobucket account, I just didn't want to do any pics until my systems were done, and now that they are, I just need to make sure the rooms are neat, clean, and in order for the pics. I did get some pics of my new car stereo install up, you can find them in the steam vent under the Original Punch 45 thread.

I think Mcintosh would look really nice too!

Oh, yeah.

The sad thing is that it will probably take these ultra high-end companies years to even come out with a BD player or a HDMI-1.3/TrueHD/DTS-MA pre-pro. By that time, there will probably be a Purple-ray player and HDMI-1.4 or something.:D

Adding in the TV

AcuDefTechGuy- I knew you would incorporate HDTV sooner or later. We have 60 hi def channels here on LI on cablevision. Lot's of good stuff on. Watched the remake of The Fly on the Monster channel last night. Gena Davis and Jeff Golblum; they looked like teenagers.

Still waiting for a used Audio Research MP1 to pop up on Audiogon or e-Bay. Too many $$$$ new. Finishing the basement in the meantime; no more arguments with the wife. If I could only find five Carver Amazings now....:D

Yeah, peer pressure.:D

Now I can watch HDTV with Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound.

Good things come to those who wait. That MP1 would be so awesome. Pure Analog 5.1 Audio Only Preamp.

Yup. Best of both worlds: Pure Analog Preamp/Amp + Separate Digital Processing in One united speaker system. Like Chris says, "Stupid Cool" for the Hardcore.:D

Good luck to you (and Chris):D

Wait and get the DTC-9.9. It'll have upgraded ethernet with wi-fi streaming never mind being newer, therefore cooler, than the DTC-9.8.
