It will be serving 3 purposes:
1) RDS AM/FM Tuner
2) DD/DTS Decoder for my HDTV broadcast
3) "Second System" when watching with my wife.
Explanation for #3: Since my wife does NOT like the Subwoofer subsonic sound, I have configured the AVP-8000DTS for NO SUBWOOFER, but Large Speakers all around. I have also connected the DVD-3800BDCI, DVD-5910CI, and Toshiba HD-XA1 to the AVP-8000 via Coaxial & Optical inputs for regular DTS/DD.
I did a quick purely 100% subjective comparison between DD & TrueHD last night with "Nightmare Before Christmas" Blu-ray. The TrueHD came from the Denon BD player directly to the Denon Amp. The DD came from the AVP-8000 via bitstream. Simply put, I would rate both DD & TrueHD as
FIVE STARS.
