IIRC F1 also goes to Road America (or used to). Generally cars crash differently than motorcycles do and don't require the same kinds or amounts of runoff for safety that the bikes do.
One of my biggest gripes with coverage in the US is they rarely use on-bike footage, and when they do, it's not much and limited. One of the reasons MGP is usually great to watch is the several different perspectives they offer. Onbike looking forward, at rider, backwards, from the sides, hand controls, feet, on screen displays of speed, acceleration, braking, and more. Plus, the announcers generally get excited and keep the action up and often refer to non-front runners with respect and by name.
In the US, the announcers drone on and most the camera angles are from a distance and only show the top few riders. Plus non-factory riders are generally referred to as back-markers or worse and with a derogatory tone. They could learn a lot from how Nascar promotes all the riders and sponsorship.
