heard that some airlines run simulator practicing on landing MD90's without engine power at all...
These guys were out over the ocean.

Matt,
It's good that you're in one piece. Mike'a alright but nobody closes a thread like you do. :)

Holy crap, scary indeed ===:O

heard that some airlines run simulator practicing on landing MD90's without engine power at all... helps to know when engine power is down...

All American pilots are trained to do single-engine takeoffs (on airplanes that can), aborted-takeoffs, engine flame-outs, powerless landings, recovering from stalls, etc. They are also trained to not focus on a single alarm (after some crashes that happened because some alarm went off and they lost concentration and forgot about something like the altimeter).

Avoid Chinese and Arab airlines. Don't even think of getting on an Air China flight.

#6. Lose an engine on a DC-10 two hours out over the ocean...and it wasn't pretty when it went. A few loud metal grinding sounds and plumes of dark smoke that followed bu thankfully we made it back here to Ireland where I've been for the past eight hours waiting on another bird to take us home.
DC-10's are tanks... except for their airlock doors... MD's seem to have problems with doors..... hmm.

The rest of it is fine though.

DC-10:" :cough: sputter :cough: Well... I'm sick. I don't need this engine at all. :throws engine away: I can run my mile and still smoke a full pack with half a lung. Bring it on 747!"

Argh. Anybody remember this DC-10 crash? I lived about 15 miles North of O'Hare at the time.

This DC-10 crash freaked me out as well. Amazing actions that led to many people surviving.

Might have been a little nerve racking but now youve got one hell of a story to tell. ;)

Many pylons were harmed.

The best part? Using a forklift to service the turbines saved hours of work; but had to be done exactly. Even so.. I wouldn't do anything like that if I was to service a plane.

Back Waxing...

Yeah... skip that one.

SheepStar

I've never tried back waxing, that sounds painful. I use that hair remover for men on my back though, much better alternative. No pain and no grizzly bear on your back.

Back Waxing...
I'm just wondering if that's worse than shaving your own back with a handheld razor. My brother talked me into that years ago. Oooouuuccchhh. Cutting oneself shaving on the back is not a pleasant experience. :)

Hmmm. Now that sounds promising!
