Ok, I think I want the Pioneer Elite SC-05 but it just hasn't hit the stores around here yet. Since I have never owned or used a Pioneer, my dealer wants to give me a loaner VSX-94TXH or 92 so we can make certain I like it until the SC 05 comes in.

This sounds like a good plan to me and who knows, maybe I will like the VSX and just keep it.

When are you going to give up and accept the fact that the 3808 is best for you. Seriously, with this thing you get your on TV screen volume display, on receiver volume display grows big when you are adjusting it, impressive power output including ACD ratings based on lab measurements, independent crossover adjustment for front, centre, surr, surrb channels, Ethernet port for internet radio, firmware updates etc. The only thing it is not the best in its class is the video upscaling thing as it does not not have the Reon chip but who cares as long as your BD/DVD players do it. The pioneer is good too but it is not a Denon.

I would go for it. Those are both fine receivers but I would still want the 05. Ice is nice. (not that I actually know it is just fun to say)

I cannot remember if the Pioneers have the on screen volume or not. Maybe someone said back in the other thread.

Edit: BTW when I heard the Studio 100 for the first time they were hooked up to a $1300 Pio Elite receiver. Came out of the room thinking the 100's were one of the worst speakers I have ever heard.

I'm really liking the 92, except for the fact that mine is not processing Dolby Digital. Once that's fixed, it will be great. I'd go with the 92 or 94 until you can get the 05.

Edit: BTW when I heard the Studio 100 for the first time they were hooked up to a $1300 Pio Elite receiver. Came out of the room thinking the 100's were one of the worst speakers I have ever heard.

0.1% distortion at 42.6 watts
1% distortion at 48.4 watts

That is very sad coming from a receiver that is almost $1000 and advertised specs say 105w per channel.

By the way, Dawg, I'm watching Animal Planet BD on my new 120" screen - I mean 110".

It's sooooooooooooooooo beautiful.

This thing is soooooo bright, I can turn up all my lights and still watch just like normal!

And, I'm also waiting for my Denon AVP-8000DTS that I bought on eBay over the weekend. What the heck for? Well, it looked pretty. That's why.

So now I can listen to AM/FM radio. I'm also hooking my Sony 1080p DVD changer to this AVP via Coaxial Digital.

So if everything goes according to plan, I will have a DD/DTS Pre-Pro/Tuner hooked up to my 3 Amps.

Okay, end of thread-hijack.
