SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Basically, these kids on vacay meet this guy and go on an excursion to see an off the beaten path temple ruin. They find the ruin, but the local indigiionus villagers show up and force them to climb atop this vine covered Myan temple... though at this point we don't know why. They try to figure out what to do, and they hear a cell phone from inside the ruin, supposedly from the one guys brother who knew the archeologists searching the ruin.
I thought there was going to be scary stuff going on inside the ruin, but actually the entire movie take place atop the ruin. Basically the vines on the ruin are alive and once you come in contact with them, they get into your body and you know the rest. Basically the villagers wouldn't let them leave in order to contain the vines to the temple.
It was kinda a cool movie, it had it's "ewww" moments, but it's the same thing as The Happening. You just watch the same basic stuff going on for 90 minutes, then it all wraps up in a stupid ending: The one guy and girl who survived plan a distraction. He distracts the villagers, she takes off running through the jungle, finds the Jeep and drives off... they kill the boyfriend... and as she's driving, you see the vine move under her skin.... and that's it. Show over.
Like I said, I'm just tire of being insulted. Put some thought, put some effort into these movies. They remind a lot of Michael Crichton books where you spend a day reading this fascinating story and as you read you realize you're getting to the end and you start getting concerned because there's only 20 pages left and you still have no idea what's going on or what going to happen and you keep reading... and now there's 3 pages left and on the last two pages, he wraps it all up in the last page and half... in the usual "it was all a dream" kinda scenario.
