Here's some updated pics of my computer system. It's better in almost every aspect.:D

system:

Compaq Presario desktop specs
AMD 64 X2 3600+ (1.90Ghz)
2 GB DDR2 RAM
160 SATA HDD
on-board Nvidea for video (not sure what series atm, will be upgrading it when I get a new power supply

Samsung SyncMaster 204BW 20" Widescreen LCD

Teac CR-H220 (a mainstay)

Klipsch sats from a promedia system

Sony SA-WM500 12" subwoofer (actually does great for a computer subwoofer)

And the best part is, it's all in the closet. :D

It looks like a nice little setup, but I have to ask...to you use the computer standing up? It looks like it would be hard to sit close to the table with the sub right underneath.

Great point Dave.

Seth, careful not to strain your back. Careful not to strain your wrist/hand at extended angles. I highly recommend keyboard/mouse wrist pad. I happen to use one keyboard wrist pad, set over to the right, for double duty with mouse. That way I can just slide the arm.

For the back, this place is a ripoff, but I remember it since I walked in with my brother at about the time he had back surgery for a very herniated disc.

Something like this could prove safer for your health while at the same time keeping the setup as you like. Something to check out. Im sure you can get something cheaper, but its just the one place I thought of for now.

That's the first thing that popped into my head, too. Then I thought, "if it's in the closet, maybe he just uses it to play music," which was followed by, "that's a darn nice monitor to put in the closet."

Either way, I'm happy for ya, Seth. Glad that your system is better than it used to be. Improvement...that's what it's all about!

My first thought was "Is he going to ride the sub when using the computer?".
If he isn't, that an akward position to be in, unless he uses some fantastic ergonomic chair with keyboard and mouse stands.

This is my sugestion: exchange the sub's and the computer's position, this way you can have the computer between your legs.
Put the sats at ear height, I don't know if they're 2-way, but if so, the point to align to your ears should be the middle between the woofer and the tweter.

ps - if you do put the computer under the desk and you find out a few years later that the electromagnetism messed with your fertility please don't blame it on me, it's not proven yet :)

I have a chair, but it's not pictured. It's a crappy chair. I don't sit in front of this computer much anymore (too busy working).

The sub is sheilded, and since the display is LCD electromagetism isn't really involved.

The speakers angle upward, it's more for background than serious listening. The Sony MDR-7506s are what I use when I want to do some serious listening.

I can pull the keyboard out closer to the chair, leg room typically isn't an issue.

But your computer sub is much larger than mine! ;)
Not anymore, I am back on my Magnavox subwoofer. The Sony was a bit much for the application. I am also off the Klipsch sats as well. I now have a pair of Boston Acoustics CR 57 bookshelf speakers with the PC. It sounds wonderful.:)

What's that beige box on the right? Electrical switches? Did you make it?

I like this setup better. You get more room with that sub and I would think those speakers would sound a better with a bit more bass of their own.

Higher power tolerance as well, and easier on my ears.:D
