Well
my BJC's arrived today which enabled me to hook up my system and I finally was able to use my SPL metre. These metres are neat and appear easy to use but for some reason I felt I've missed something
. I started by setting the size & distance(time delay) for each speaker via the receiver before I ran the test tones at 00 db's as instructed in my Svs guide. I then used the metre's 70db setting to measure all my speakers and set each value as close to 75 as I could. I even double checked it at 80 for a more accurate number. However when I started to adjusted the volume level control for each speaker the mains were reading at plus 2/3 values, the centre was slightly off by 1db, but the surrounds were -2/3 dbs off and the sub level starited at -5dbs was turned up to +4dbs in order to read 75dbs on my spl and the gain was set at 1/3.
So I'm compelled to ask this question, do these measurments seem off or is this normal to have a such large variance like this?
Thanks, Bill
