Hello, I'm new on the forum and on the audio thing too, so please hep me the best you can.

A friend of mine has in his house this sony audio equipment:
STR-DE325 A/V receiver
SS-U4033 Speakers (surround (4))
It is loud but not much HI-FI.

I want to build a 5.1 system to kill his sound system but not kill my bank account :p.
I already have an Onkyo TX-SR605 A/V receiver so what I need it's a set of speakers but not much expensive, what do all of you recommend? It will be used for movies and music, my room dimensions are: 14X17 feet.

Thank you
Tom

No more than $700 I guess, I know it's not much. I primary listen to rock and 80's music. I want this system to be loud and I can sacrifice a little the HI-FI.

This would sound really good :

Cambridge Audio S30 bookshelf speakers $219

SVS PB10-NSD sub $429 you can spend less on a sub, but then you have a cheap sub that doesn't sound good.

The Cambridge provide excellent mid and high range sound ,and the SVS provide excellent bass. These will work well with you Onkyo 605 AVR, which by the way is a very good receiver!.

Those speakers really looks good and they're not expensive, but what I want it's a 5.1 system not a 2.1 or am I missing something?
