A couple other guys I think deserves mentioning is Gene Hackman and Anthony Hopkins. Both are very seasoned actors. Hackman seems to always be a bad guy of some sorts whereas you never really know what you will get with Hopkins. Would love to see these two in a movie that focuses on both. Now that would make for a great movie.

Cheers,

Phil

Hackman is awesome and not always the bad guy. See BAT 21 or The Conversation.

Hey Jim hope all is well. I agree that Hackman is awesome. Perhaps most of the time he plays a bad guy. However, he seems to be at his best when he does though. My Mom always says he is known as a rough guy anyways. Think I have seen Bat21 but not sure. Will look into it. Have a great weekend.

Cheers,

Phil

After watching "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins" today I noticed another greatr actor. Took me a few minutes before I could put a name to him, but his name is James Earl Jones. He is just fantastic to say the least. That is, he always seems to disappear into his character no matter what it is. There were some other good actors in this one, but imho James Earl Jones is a class act. Kudos to him.

Cheers,

Phil

OK, gotta put BAT 21 on the to see list. :) My dad loves Gene. Conversation was excellent, a late discovery for me.

Darth Vader is one of the greatest characters ever. :D I liked him in Conan the Barbarian too. In Clear and Present Danger, however, I remember squirming in the theater with the watered-down rip-off of Shostakovich's 5th Sym Lento. Probably ruined a good acting job for me. :(

Anthony Hopkins
Silence of the Lambs might have been the most unforgettable in-theater movie experience I have ever had. I couldn't believe how absolutely convincing his frightful character was. Never knew of Hopkins before!

Very well spoken. There are many actors/actresses out there that are just darn good at what they do. Some have it and some don't. Most mentioned on this thread surely have it and several seem to be getting better and better.

Female
Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, and Julia Roberts even though she's not in that many movies anymore.

Male
Gary Oldman, Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale (have loved everything I have seen him in so far)

If I had to pick an actor from the old days I would have to say Yul Brynner and Julie Andrews.

I agree Kevin Spacey is amazing. Really liked his performance in the movie 21. He is one of my all-time favorites. However, I do believe that Samual L. Jackson is also just as talented. Then, there is also Morgan Freeman.
