Who is your favorite actor/actress????

One thing I really appreciate is actors who take offbeat roles. That says to me that they don't take themselves too seriously. I love Pierce Brosnan for doing the Matador and Melanie Griffith for doing Cecil B. Demented. Also, Sigourney Weaver for Galaxy Quest.

If I had to pick a favorite actress, I'd have to consider Catherine McCormack, Jennifer Connely, Natalie Portman, Joan Crawford and Myrna Loy.

Mike, I am so glad you and your family are safe. Hopefully, nobody else got hurt as well. I will surely have to see Patriot again now for sure. Thanks for the info.
thanks.

uh oh. i've been scanning IMDB pages of hugh laurie and the movie patriot ... there's no mention anywhere.

it's either:

he was not credited

OR

im stupid and there was this guy that looked exactly like him

OR

it was in the movie the Man in the iron mask (OMG, i should get my head checked ... if there's no guy in the Patriot that looks like him)

i need someone to correct me here :(

Don't forget Harrison Ford, he had some great roles in his day. Gary Oldman is a phenominal actor. I think the reason so many people like him is because of the widely diverse roles he plays, and does them well. I didn't even realize a lot of the characters were him when I was watching the movies, the man is an acting chameleon.

On a smaller scale, I always liked Xander Berkely. He's never really been a huge star, but he's had supporting roles in something like 10 or 12 movies a year for the past 20 years.

So does Jackie Chan but Chan's funnier. :D

Jim
Totally agree on both counts.

I thought Jet Li was excellent in Lethal Weapon 4. Very few words but his presence was ominous.

Shanghai Knights was hilarious. Not the second one, but the first.

I hope you all got that I was joking about Van Damme. Great martial arts skills, but not so much on the acting, except maybe for Street Fighter :D

Cheers all

I can honestly say there is not one actor currently working that if he has a movie out I feel obligated to go see it.

However, the following actors, if I see they're in a movie on TV, I'll flip to that channel every time. I also own DVDs by many of them:

John Wayne
Jimmy Stewart
Burt Lancaster
Glenn Ford
William Holden
Humphrey Bogart
Cary Grant
Charlton Heston
Robert Mitchem
Kirk Douglas
The Marx Brothers

Current actresses I like are Kate Beckensale, Kate Hutson, Angelina Jolie and Renee Zellwegger.

The actresses of the past are far too numerous to mention.

So very true Jim. Both are true martial artists and very fast. Who do you think is the toughest?
Tough call. Out of the two, Jet Li and Jackie Chan, my vote is going to go on the side of Jet Li (but only because Jackie Chan does not know where I live )

Jackie Chan is definately the toughest of the two. The guy started as a stunt double, and has continued doing all his own crazy stunts for years. He's got to be close to sixty by now, and he's still jumping off 6 story buildings without a net or line.

Tough call. I would probably pick Jackie Chan because of all the stunts he does himself but Bolo Yeung could wipe the floor with both of them.

Your right on there. I only go to the movies for the movie itself not the actors. (and thats maybe once a year)

Michael, I was hoping you were kidding. Van Damme has good skills but acting is NOT one of them. I must admit, however, that I have seen worse though.:eek:
