Is there a timeline for when that movie will be out?

SheepStar
No idea on timeline yet since they were planning on having The Joker do an appearance in the third one but now it's not going to happen. According to the interview he is working on the script but it's still way too early because he didn't know how good The Dark Knight was going to turn out.

Me and some buddies saw it last night. We thought it was pretty weak. I was bored for half of the movie.

Maggie Gyllenhall??? Gimme a break. That chick is UGLY.

Sorry, but I don't know why everyone is raving about Heath Ledger's performance. Sure it was cool. But everybody's acting like NO ONE has ever played a convincing crazy person before this. He was all right, but definitely NOT academy award material. I wouldn't even call him a better Joker than Jack Nicholson. He was just different. I think tons of other actors could have played that role just as well.

Two Face was cool, but that's about it.

I seriously don't see what everyone's raving about. We were all pretty disappointed.

The Watchmen trailer was hella cool though.

Watchmen looks like another Hellboy to me. I don't have high expectations for it. I hear Justice League is coming too though.

I wonder who is going to be The Riddler next time. Jim Carey did a pretty good job last time.

In other words, we wanted Batman to kill the Joker!!!

I mean Batman threw himself at Two Face and end up killing Two Face, but he saves the Joker? Really lame. He could have run over the Joker with the Batpod, but he risks hurting himself by swirving/crashing to avoid hitting the Joker? Extremely lame beyond belief.

Is it just possible that throwing someone off a 3-story building might kill him? Possible? If Batman won't kill the bad guys, why did he take that chance of possibly killing Eric Robert's mob character? If he were "betting on it", then he realized there was a chance the guy could die, right?

I would not have chosen Maggie Gyllenhall or Katie Holmes to play Dawes. Geez. Just pick a hot model or actress for crying out loud. There's like a million of them!

Like they say, there is no such thing as "PERFECT".
In the words of Dr. Evil, this movie was only "half-evil", "quasi-evil", "half-calorie evil", not quite evil enough.:D

The whole connundrum about the Dark Knight was supposed to be where would he draw the line? When was killing justified? When it is for the greater good? What gives him the right to decide who is good and evil and how does that differentiate him from any other common thug? This whole questioning of his own actions was only barely touched on in both of the movies. I still enjoyed both, but I think they are a bit dumbed down for the audience (which is funny with it based on a comic series). It is kind of like LOTR - they really changed quite a bit from the books in order to make a more "wrapped up" version that people who haven't read the books would get. The general idea is there, but the story is different. This one was definitely darker than the first one, but like you said, it still held back.

Umm.. If I may interject

Ledger f'n owned Jack. There won't be another Batman movie made any time soon with The Joker as his nemesis, who would fill Ledger's shoes? More importantly who in their right mind would want to follow that performance?

There were 2 things I didn't like about the movie.

1. Maggie whateverhernameis - Yuck! Gimme something to look at please

2. The Joker should have offed Batman when he had the friggin chance. I mean really when is the bad guy gonna win one? Hell the Joker shoulda offed Bale for that stiff *** performance, honestly did he take acting lessons from Keanu? Step one whisper. Step two look intense. Step three deliver line and make it sound like you're holding a fart in. If Nolan intends to use Bale rather than a 2*4 for the next one maybe he should call it Batman the Turd.

I'm hoping that Two-Face isn't dead. Hell, Batman survived the fall. He could have too.

Heath "owned" Jack??? Not hardly. Ledger's performance was good, but not great. But it's hard to compare as they were 2 totally different styles of Joker.

Maybe I would have like the movie a lot more if

1) They used a hot babe from Victoria Secrets for Rachel Dawes - you know the one Tom Brady was dating (or was dating?):D

2) Rachel & Two Face did not die.

There.

Yes Heath owned Jack.

Granted they were two distinctly separate roles but Ledger's Joker made Nicholson's Joker look like a stupid clown who molested kiddo's in the back of a van not a sick, twisted freak who molested freshly dug up dead kiddo's. I'm sorry but if I were in a dark alley and had to pick one of them to fight to the death I'm choosing the cartoon buffoon over the certifiable maniac any day. Jack's Joker was a reprisal of the early Batman cartoons and Heath's Joker was a reprisal of well I can't think of anything that creepy or annoying....Pennywise maybe?

Either way it's a shame dude is dead. Can't say I was a fan before this movie but I will certainly go out and rent more of his work now.

I really liked this movie, although my wife could barely watch...too tense and no comic relief. My assessment is that Ledger's Joker has moved into the top five villains of all time. I was amazed at his voice and physical acting and his ability to portray a completely frozen heart. I also thought it was one of the best basic makeup jobs since the Phantom in 1925...he deteriorates as the movie progresses and it's all done with scars and greasepaint. Great stuff. The theme of the story about how evil you can get fighting evil before you become evil yourself seems resonant in today's world. The only weak part was Rachael, a completely forget-able character and portrayal. She was just female baggage.

So will anybody ever be able to play the Joker again? Not for 20 years at least. Should Ledger get a posthumus oscar? Yes. What would Ledger have done if he had NOT died? Back to Casanova? How could he have topped this?

I just don't get what everyone is going so ga-ga over. Sorry, but the American public seems readily available to eat up any piece of crap that Hollywood spews out nowadays.

Ledger was OK, nothing special. Just off the top of my head, I would say that either Brad Dourif or even Gary Oldman could have played the role better. Granted their both too old. But it just amazes me how everyone RAVES about Ledger's very par performance.

I thought everyone did a great job acting.

I did not think the acting was an issue at all.

The only issues to me were perhaps the casting and the climax/resolution of the story.

I will definitely buy The Dark Knight on blu-ray.

But I will look forward more to the Jason Bourne Trilogy on Blu-ray.:D

Yeah, Dourif (not really too old) and Oldman might have done it but they DIDN'T do it. Oldman was already busy with a character and Brad was nowhere to be seen, but nevertheless, I thought that was best about the way Ledger played the role was his complete lack of emotion; he pretty much defined the APA definition of psycopathology. It's not easy to do that AND be an over-the-top comic book character at the same time. What was great is that he also didn't overact. Even if you didn't rave over it, "piece of crap" is pretty harsh.

I finally saw Dark Knight last night.

Overall I really liked this movie. The flying scenes were amazing! The action was excellent and the story was involving for the most part. I thought it was great to see the good in even the criminals that wanted redemption at the end where they wouldn't blow up the other ferry.

But, there are several things that bothered me:

  • I new Rachel was IMO unattractive and dispassionate. Katie Holmes was much better as was her connection to Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. There was just no emotion from the new Rachel in this movie and she seemed very *****y to me. I felt no remorse when she died.

  • What's with the deal when Batman was about to run down the joker on his bike and fell off? That made NO sense whatsoever

  • I thought it was pathetic that Batman was ready to reveal his identity in hopes that the Joker would stop killing people

  • There was absolutely no reason to instantly create and destroy the two face character. his death should have been saved for a sequel

  • What's up with Christian Bale? He seemed like he lost a lot of weight in this movie

  • In Batman Begins, he kills the main villian by not saving him on the train. Why didn't he do the same with the Joker? I just don't buy him going out of his way to save him again

  • I thought it was ridiculous how Batman just beats the crap out of the Joker yet the Joker doesn't feel pain, doesn't bleed, or nothing

That being said I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and hope the next one will be on the same level and NOT introduce a Penguin, Robin or Batgirl character. If they do Mr. Freeze, this time it should be Patrick Stewart and NOT Arnold!

PS. I don't understand why everyone was rushing to that particular hospital. Did I miss something? I swore I heard the Joker say if nobody kills the person about to reveal Batman's identity in 60 min, he will blow up A hospital, not naming a specific one. Somebody please explain this as I may have been paying too much attention to the nachos on that particular scene.

I saw it last night as well. Not being a comic book fan, I had rather low expectations.
Overall I thought it was pretty good.
I agree some of the casting could have been better but the special effects were enough to overcome those shortcomings for me.
My main problem was the length. 2-1/2 hours is a long movie regardless of the quality. My choice would have been to cut out the, reaffirmation of society's right for a hero, dual ferry scene. I thought it was unnecessary.

just saw it a couple hours ago.

Pros:

joker is a BA. and a genius
vehicles are awesome. the 18 wheeler turning upside down was PIMP.
Rachel dies (YES, THATS RIGHT.) Shes two-faced. she kissed bruce, then kissed the other dude 10 mins later! that is crap.
there was a lamborghini REVENTON!! :D

Cons:

Batman has the WORST voice i have ever heard. It's too fake.
Batman is a WUSS.
biggest problem: NOTHING HAPPENED. Neither joker nor batman died. they killed off their one chance to have another sequel (two-face), 5 people died, and everyone hates batman. So basically, we ended where we started.

Id give it a 7-8/10. It was over-hyped. Probably cause Heath died. (And HE deserves the hype, not the entire movie.)

They need to replace christian bale.

I am pretty sure that was a Murcielago, not a Reventon. Yes, his voice is a little too faked. I thought Heath's performance was good, but definitely not Oscar good. It did the role justice, but I don't think it broke ground or anything. I didn't care for either actress as Rachel, so Maggie was no worse than Mrs Tom Cruise.
