Audioholic Median Age??????

Hello, I was just pondering what would be the median age of audioholic members here? My guess is around the age 40, but I could be wrong. It is also obvious that most members are male, but what % is female? My guess would be less than 5%. I have tried to find this info on this site, but to no avail. Would any of the moderators or administrators care to share some member details with us? Of course, I am referring to in general terms. Lastly, are there any other stats that you (administrators) can share pertaining to the "typical" forum member here? I am just curious is all. As such, not attempting to start any kind of flame war by any means. I just like stats as I am sure others do as well.

Cheers,

Phil

Cheer up, my friend. From 36 on, you can legally date someone half your age.

Well, I suppose that drops to 24 in Kentucky...as long as it's a relative. :D Just kidding!
Hey Adam, the scary part this may actually be true in parts of Eastern Kentucky.:eek: That is not the case in Western Kentucky.

Cheers,

Phil

I been asking myself the same question. That is why I estimated the median age here at 40. Just wished I knew how close my estimate actually is. You know, just to see how good I am........LOL!!!! :D:D

Boy, maybe I'll be in the lower half of the age groups after all, 33 here, and have really only been in the hobby for about 8 years, more so in the last 4.

Early 40's is usually when you have a little extra play money and you are too tired to get out of the house to spend it.

47. I would bet my bippy that the rank and file here is a middle aged white guy.

I'm 51. I first got into audio at age 17 (had a pretty good set up for its time) but got out of audio in my late 20s. Then 7 years ago I heard my first DVD-Audio and got back into it.

If the forum software doesn't already allow the admins to collect this data, then I think this would make an excellent idea for a poll. The poll could be set up in the usual 5-year ranges (e.g. 15-20, 20-25, etc.).

Just a thought.

I wonder if others are like me - I got a lot of my gear when I was in my early 20's, about a year after I got my first professional job. I was making money and didn't have any real financial commitments (yet), so I had the disposable income to buy audio gear.

Check off another guy in the fabulous fifties...51 to be precise. Been into music as long as I can remember. Used to borrow 8-track decks from anyone I could beg one off of when I was a young lad and would hook it up in the parent's car when we would go on vacation. Used to run a wire from the fuse box under the floor mat and just lay it in the back floorboard. Snagged a couple of cheap speakers that I made cabinets for in shop class (had 2ea 5-1/4 per box) and had them laying in the floor or seat as well. Drove my parents nuts.:p
Used to ride my bike over to friend's houses when I was around 10-11 with a bunch of 45's on the handle bars flowing in the wind to spin at their house.

It's interesting. I know my hearing is getting worse, but my lust for electronics is increasing with age....It's alot more about the thought of what's under the hood.
