This sounds really exciting. What do you guys think? I currently have my ipod connected to my amp via the headphone jack and even with lossless audio it still doesn't sound equivilent to CD.

I was exicted about this product and pending release. However all things point to a 1st generation product with issues and in this case, its all about he name.

PS: Here is a thread about the i70 transport discussed @ AVS http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1007016

The apple lossless format still needs some work if you ask me but the music is still compressed to mp3 format. I would try a tube dac first. There are great ones out there for less than 350....

Thanks for the information

Billy,

Thank you for your response. From what I have read on the AVS forum it seems the main (only?) issue with this device is that you cannot access the menu with the ipod video. That certainly would be a deal breaker for me. Do you/anyone else know what the best option in term of sound quality and usability would be. Is there any other product on the market that bypasses the internal DAC and retains the ability to utilize the menu function? Or if not is there another product that would provide significantly better sound than the headphone jack? I couldn't find any "expert reviews" on the wadia, still looking for that.

Jamie,

I don't use apple lossless; I use WAVE files. I'm not familar with tube DACs. I will look into that. Any that you suggest?

Also, if you plug your ipod via usb into a tube amp won't you still lose the ability to navigate the menu?

There are a couple of one out there that are made for the Ipod, for instance the fathead tube amp with I pod doc is rated pretty well. I also like the Ming da stuff from Pacific valve and tube...
