In-game XMB coming for PS3 with fw 2.40

They can say 10 years all they want. If MS puts out a console in 7, PS3 will follow suit or fall behind...

My guess MS will have a new console released late in 2010 (right before christmas) or early 2011. That would be a 5-6 year life span which is the typical life span of consoles. I could see Sony releasing the ps4 in 2012, early 2013. Considering the PS3 was released a year later, their lifespans will be pretty much equal.

I could actually see a slimline PS3 been re-badged as a PS4 with some tweaks been added. (extreme high bandwidth HDMI over wireless, maybe the world will be using USB sticks for everythingi.e. no more blu-ray or DVD?)

Who knows.

Interesting, maybe Microsoft is thinking of something along those lines. If they could cut cost by not including a blu-ray player and invest that into better hardware (GPU, CPU, massive hdd etc) I would be all for that. Not sure how it would work though.
