Well, thanks for finding the link to the guy who was electrocuted...
At least there were other circumstances involved, such as using an incorrect wattage light...but I'm still using my cheater plug for now.
Comments in general about the sub- people are right. Measuring the space you have for it does absolutely nothing to prepare you for the size of it. It seems huge, yet it still fits within the space I was thinking about putting it. It is quite heavy too, but it was manageable for carrying it up the stairs myself.
I got the cherry satin finish. It is very nice looking, probably nicer than some of our furniture. I was hoping the cherry would be a good match for the cherry Aperion 6T's I currently have (along with Axiom M80's). The 6T's have a red-ish finish, the MWF is more brown, so it matches the M80's just as well, which isn't great, but not that big of a deal for me.
I've played around with it a bit tonight, it blends very well with the 6T's for music, so much so at times I question whether it's really on, but when there's a low note you know it has to be the sub. I also fired up the Darla tapping the glass scene in Finding Nemo, and listened to that- now that's a new experience...I've just been playing it over and over. My wife hasn't said anthing yet, so I might just go back to doing that after this and see if she ever does.
One thing I noticed on that scene, when I have it turned up (100db or so), I can like hear the cone moving/shaking, it's hard to explain. Is that just the nature of that scene? I'm thinking it is as I haven't been able to reproduce it on music or U571, and when I use my other sub on that scene it basically makes a very similar sound, just without much bass so it doesn't sound nearly as good or have the same effect (dual 8's). Having a sub with this ability is a whole new experience...
