I hate home ownership. But you've got to live somewhere and apartments aren't SVS or car hobbyist friendly.
Agree Dave !
I think I'd really like to rent an apartment, but putting two PB13-Ultra in there..... I wouldn't last for long
Which means, there must be a detached house.

We live in a 1957 brick ranch on 2 acres in the country so its real quiet and neighbors are not right up your ars, most of my friends have newer homes and they look great but man are they loud! They just echo and carry noise thru walls like craxy and when you are not used to it sleeping there makes you able to hear just how loud those new homes are, its like the are hollow!
My friend had an alarm company bug him about purchasing a system and he told them it really doesnt matter how many door or window sensors you have on a house as you could breal into his house with a box cutter, small saw and a good kick...........just cut a hole into wall, its that simple! This made me laugh as its a $300,000 home but he is kinda correct and thats pretty spooky
A farm provides ample space to construct that dream home theater room! The best decision I made was moving out of the city. My wife thought I was mad when I constructed a dedicated room replete with bass traps and other acoustic treatments. The room is one of the major contributors to overall sound quality. Finally whipped those standing waves!! My Sinatra and Serbian turbo-folk music never sounded so good!

Cedo, I couldnt agree more, I know going to the city for stuff to do is alot of fun but I never will understand why everyone wouldnt want to live in a peaceful quiet country setting with room to breath and freedom to do so many things many could only dream of.......have your caos and eat it too when you live in the country.

My biggest woe right now is trying to decide if I want to keep this house and build on a HT room and add a pool and outside living area or try to sale it and buy a house that has everything I want. The house is less than 2 years old so I am sure I would take a beatin' on a sale.

But then again, the house you buy will be cheaper too because of the market !:D

I would say take alot of thought in your current location, if you really love it then make it better, if not then move to hopefully a place you wont ever want to leave but dont end up with regret from moving, if you really like it then stay.

Actually, I'm going to order the TV this weekend because my family is coming for a visit and I can't not have a TV for a week when we have kids here. I had planned to wait until the tile job is complete, but oh well...
Woah, woah, woah. Hold on. Alright, I'm guilty of taking six months off, so I know that I missed some stuff. However, right before I left in December, I could have sworn that you bought a Toshiba 52HL167 (or something similar). Am I remembering wrong, or did you return that?

I bought a Toshiba 52LX177 just before Thanksgiving but returned it 3 weeks later because it had some minor issues like Rambo's black hair turning green when next to the green instrument panel of the helicopter. I didn't think it was the 'green push' people were talking about because it only happened in a few scenes like that but I returned it just to be on the safe side.

I intended to just buy another one when I returned home after christmas but then I noticed the new models for 2008 were on the horizon...so I waited, again. Then got involved in all this research for porcelain tile for the house and figured I'd wait till that was done so we wouldn't have to move a large TV. I still haven't found tile I really like and now it's possible my sis and nieces will be coming to visit, so I'm going to order the new TV.

That's the thing, we love our house and location. Another issue is we dont need a lot of room as it will always just be the two of us. A move up seems to get us too much SQ/FT that we just dont need. We are mid market in our neighborhood so adding value to our house makes sense.

Sounds to me like you sorta answered your own question, now just go all out on upgrades for you current home, Cadilac style and you will be set! My former boss did just that, took a house he loved and sunk his cash into top of the line everything, windows, wood trim, cabinets and made a great home something really special while not buying a house that was too large or hard to handle, as we get older those things really start to matter, cheers.

Yard work is plain evil. And in TX, who can enjoy it? Between the heat and the bugs I'd rather be in the A/C even if it sounded like a jet engine.
Dude, you'd be surprised. I have several neighbors, friends and coworkers that LOVE yard work. We've had multiple 100 degree days this year. I still see them outside. Before my gf moved in, I had a leggy married neighbor that liked to come over and de-weed my landscaping. She said it was relaxing.

My idea of relaxing is watching a musical, action movie, etc. on a big display with lots of surround sound. I can be sitting down on a couch or jogging on my treadmill--just have the A/C on!
