my electrician ran the power and the hdmi cables along the same part of the wall and out two different boxes on the wall. then i read that you can't have your hdmi cable anywhere near your electrical wire as it will cause interference. how true is this and is it worth having him rip out what he did and rewire the hdmi cables away from the electrical wire?

last time i checked, digital cables are immune from this ...

is your HDMI cable shielded? what HDMI cable did you use?

for the most part. picture shouldnt be affected, but if the hdmi is 1.3 and the user has control options(power on/off) between the components(pioneer elite avr>display) if heard of interference, though i havent experienced it.?.

Being digital, it should not be affected. However, it does not hurt to err on the conservative side and make sure they are run seperately.

Usually a licensed electrician would know better.
How many feet of wire are running parallel? A few feet inside the wall may not be too big a deal. If it's easy to get to move them apart.
Is this an opened stud wall?
If it's old work, and the wires were snaked in a finished wall, remove the low voltage box, and reach in and spread the wires apart.
Try to put something in the wall to keep them on separate sides of the bay.
Even use duct tape, if you have to.
