MFW-15 increasing price

I am not surprised at the increase, just how much it is. $100 is a pretty big jump IMO, even with the weak dollar and fuel/transportation prices.

I have a Piano Black SVS PB13-Ultra. Two Piano Black MFW-15's at $799.00 each would not be a deal in my book. Yeah I know two are cheaper if bought in a pair, but they take take up twice as much floor space, which is my bedroom.

Anyways, Craig says it takes two 15's to equal one Ultra...I'll be keeping my Ultra .

Yep, that's why I went with the Ultra. I did't have space for 2 big subs. :)

FYI,
The AV123 X-series speaker go from Columbia up to a warehouse in Miami and on to Colorado or directly to the customer.

With some reviews comparing 1 MFW-15 to the SVS ultra, it is still a bargin. They also offer discounts on multiples and frequently have sales and b-stock for even better deals.

If you buy a big heavy sub from AV123, SVS, HSU, ect. expect to pay a lot for shipping.
Its only 99 dollars to ship a PB13 ultra anywhere in the u.s I beleive threw SVS which is very reasonable and cheaper then most.

Warning, rambling useless story ahead...useful info is at the end.

Hm. I bought one of these this week, when I wasn't really meaning too...
I was looking at some SVS B stock and doing measurements, but wasn't really planning on ordering a sub until after I had decided on speakers. Then I realized the MWF would fit. And then I realized the price increase hadn't happened yet. Then I saw a mention that the price increase would be happening soon, and that there might be an announcement soon about more B stock possibly. So the dilemma of ordering one before the price increase or waiting to see about B stock came up.

I decided to order a cherry MWF (wife didn't want plain black speakers, and she was at work, so I wasn't sure if that applied to subwoofers too and just guessed). That was late Tuesday night- the ETA for them was Friday June 6th. Wednesday morning the ETA was moved out to July, so I wasn't sure if I got in on June or not, but didn't care as I figured I'd cancel the order if more B stock was announced at $200 savings later this week (for that I'd get black)- I told me wife all of this and she seemed surprisingly okay with it, of course I never told her the final price of cherry if we stayed with it...

Yah, so much for that plan. My MWF shipped out Thursday morning. Yah! Oops. I told my wife that this morning, and she responded with "Yeah!", in that special voice that means "I really don't care, but I know you do, so I'll pretend I do". Then she did a double take- "Wasn't that the one we didn't to be shipped yet?" Um, yah..

So much for that plan. But hey, I've got a new sub coming to replace my Yamaha finally!

Shipping was $130. I was looking at a B Stock PB12-Plus from SVS, it would have been $50 more total for maple finish, which I didn't like as much as the cherry.

Son of a...I see they just dropped the price of the PB12-Plus B stocks another $80, so now $699 plus shipping. Dang.
No PEQ amps on those tho.

Dang they got a lot of B stock suddenly, including ultras for $1200...

Some might be user errors and some definitely aren't IMO Also on a positive note AV123 Appears to have excellent customer service and really takes care of there customers including outstanding communications, but I'd personally wouldn't want to buy something that's looks like I'm probably going to need it.

Great. Where were you Tuesday evening?
Ah well, I've got a decent amount of confidence that if something goes wrong they will address it appropriately. Hopefully if something does go wrong with mine it happens sooner rather than later...

Im truly sorry and I wish I would of found it sooner for you :( I was seriously considering one of these before and thats why I was doing some deep research tonight. Hopefully you'll be ok I think the odds are with you because these were only probably 4 or 5 threads/problems out of 100's that they probably sold.

I can say with some confidence that even if you experience a problem outside the warranty that AV123 will take care of you.

On another note and I hate to once again use a car analogy but you don't by first year model car because they tend to have more issues than something that has been out a few years and the manufacture has been able to identify and correct the problem. I think the same can be applied to most anything that is mass produced, including subs.

Thats a excellent point and didnt even realize that because AV123 makes high quailty speakers and sound as good if not better then speakers that cost twice as much. Thats what really baffled me when I saw some owner complaints or concerns about there MFW's. But now it all makes sense, I'm sure they will iron out all the bugs if they havent already.

Hey, someone has an MFW15 in satin black for sale over audiogon. Just thought I would let you all know for anyone whom might be interested. Sorry, but every time I try to post a link it screws up. Otherwise, I would post a link.

Cheers,

Phil

Bah, got my MWF-15 today. DHL tried to deliver it a day early, so I spent 45 minutes waiting at their hub for the driver to get back so I could pick it up after the missed delivery, and instead he decided to hang around our neighborhood until my wife got home so he could make the delivery...

Darn persistent drivers...

It was packed well, looks nice, told my wife to grab Finding Nemo as we went upstairs to connect it up...powered it up and BUZZZZZZZZZZ......
As my wife asks, "what's that noise? why's it doing that?"
"No reason, don't worry, it was free anyway, go back to your own room..."

Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations for ground loop isolators, let me know. I was kind of thinking this one-
http://www.amazon.com/Xitel-GLI1-X1-Ground-Loop-Isolator/dp/B00023XDYA

In the meantime, it will sit here idley as the hum/buzz is louder than my music...

was it really free? or was it to shut the wife up? :)

email/call AV123, you shouldn't be doing the fixing (bandaid) yourself. (unless it really was free)

Are you sure you need an isolator? Did you already troubleshoot where the ground loop is coming from?
