Well I found a guy localy in my area who has 2 for sale for I think 275 each or 500 for both. How does it compare to my DPS 10 and or should I just hold off and get something better like the ULTRA PB13 or higher end paradigm that will compliment my HT system. Thanks in advance.

As a former owner of the PS1000 v.4 and a brief owner of the DPS-10, I preferred the PS1000 v.4 overall. That is, the PS1000 v.4 was very sluggish with music listening but was decent at ht. The DPS-10 was better with music BUT did not have the extension capabilities that the PS1000 had. This is very subjective as I did not own both at the same time and as such could not do an A/B test. Basically, it is from memory.

My advice is to save up and hold out for the Ultra 13. The PS1000 and the DPS-10 is NOT even on the same Planet let alone League as the Ultra 13. To be quite candid here, I will someday own an Ultra 13. Kinda saving up for it myself. It just may be a while by the looks of my funds as we speak.:eek: SVS has awesome customer support and will be there for you if needed. Be sure to remember that as it means a lot and often does make all the difference.

How big is your room?

I have the PS1000 in a small room and it does a great job. In fact i was demoing some scenes of LOTR ROTK, STR WRS III, and my ears still hurt. I think i was sitting in a standing wave area of the room, which is weird because thats new for that seating position. Anyway... its a nice sub and i have no problems with it.

Thanks for the input, my room is more rectangular. Its a very difficult or challenging room acoustically speaking. If you click on my links on my sig you can have an idea. To the right if your facing my TV it opens up to the dining/kitchen area.My ht area is stuffed in the left side of room , if that makes any sense lol it hard to explain but the way my rooms layed out its pretty much my only option .

This will give ya a better idea of what I mean and behind me when I took the pic it goes back probably another 10 or 15 ft . Since the pic i've moved my sub to the right of speaker and tv which seems to help a lot

Am very glad you like your PS1000. The room mine was in was quite large with many openings to other areas. In fact, you could say it was closer to 3000 ft.^3. As I mentioned earlier, the PS1000 v.4 did a decent job with ht but musically speaking it was very sluggish. More specifically, it was muddy sounding resulting in (1) note bass no matter where I placed it. It sounded best in between my mains. Anyways, I am glad you are getting good results out of yours as we all different expectations of how bass should sound. If not, then we all would own the same gear.......just think at how boring that would actually be.:eek:

Cheers,

Phil

I don't think there is much saving needed. Those subs are about the price of a PB-10NSD.

Yes and there local too and the guy said he'd come by and hook them up so I can hear them. He said there about 5 years old and he parted out his system and thats all he has left. What do they go for new ? I tryed looking them up on Paradigms site and saw no price but maybe I missed it . I dont know its a tuff decision but my guts telling me to save up for pimp sub THE ULTRA :D and my wallets saying Y I K E S those Paradigms will work :p

A ported sub is better for HT set up and a sealed sub is tighter and thus better for music. That is my take on it though......"I'm an expert witness, because I say I am. Don Henly"
