Ordering new wires from monoprice for new home moving into in Sept.
The room is 24X16. the Tv and audio rack will be on the wall that is 16 feet wide. The Tv will sit in the middle which is in the middle of the room 8ft mark. Depending on where i put the audio rack it can be anwhere from 8feet or less from the TV. My receiver sits 33inches from the bottom of the rack.
I cant decide whether to order the 12 foot component wire or 25 foot component cable.

I use all monoprice cables and have a 35 ft. component cable that works perfectly. If you think you may need 25, get that. I doubt you will notice any difference in signal.

I agree with pathshan, order the longer cable if you have any doubts about length. You won't notice in degradation in sound quality. Assuming you can asthetically hide the extra cable length from view

If there's one thing I've learned, unless you 100% sure about the absolute length and 100% sure you won't ever change things up, you're far better off going the longer route. I know it's much nicer having short cables... it does make a cleaner more manageable install, but there's nothing worse than a cable that's an inch shorter than it ought to be.

If your performance won't suffer, and the pricing is negligible, get the longer cables.

Yep, we just "tugged" on an RCA cable from my friend's $800 turntable this weekend when we were installing speakers. Needless to say, the turntable has to go back as we jagged up the output jacks:(

If i had an idea where i was going to put the Av rack then my choice would be easy. I cant decide whether to put the AV rack between my TV and the right speaker or outside the right speaker.

If the cables aren't too expensive, I'd order both. You can always find a use for the second cable later, either for yourself or a friend. If they cost a bit, I'd go with the longer one. As mentioned, it's much easier to hide a little extra cable than to be an inch or two short on your cables.

if your rack mounted equipment if full of the typical blinky lights, lighted dials and panels, etc. you may consider moving it a little further away from the viewing area so you aren't distracted from the movie.

Oh, and with Monoprice typical cable costs, just get the longer cables.

I agree with everyone. Go with the longer cable if in doubt.

Simple rule of thumb when it comes to cables is always get more than you need (especially if you're pulling cables through walls, etc. where it becomes a sharp pain in the rear end for sure). In your case, I'd advise employing the same mindset, especially if you have yet to decide exactly where the equipment rack is going to live. That way you give yourself the flexibility to change things around more to your liking once it's all set up. :)
