HAA! That's too funny! I don't anyone I know would describe as calm and laid back... especially when stuff goes south. My wife almost spit her drink out when I showed this to her!

Really though... I guess I'm just a bit wore out. I've been doing this remodel for almost 2 months in different parts of the house and I've had different levels of success and disappointment. I'm just over it all I guess and too damn tired to get all crazy. Like I said, I'm pissed... really pissed, but I also want my equipment. They asked me to give them until around noon tomorrow to locate a new piece. In the end, I'll take the route that gets me my stuff fastest, but piss me off enough and I'll rebox the receiver and the TV and send it all back out of spite and start the campaign of ruin.

Thanks for the support guys. I'll keep everyone posted.
I really do wish you the best. Be sure to keep us informed. A prayer never hurts either I always say.

Oh they were very thorough in charging me the full amount almost 3 weeks ago. I told them I would call them at 5 to hear the latest.
I would call the credit card company and DISPUTE the total CHARGES!!!

It works for me!

I would just cancel the whole order and let them know if they don't give you a full refund, including your shipping costs, that you will have your credit card company perform a chargeback.
I would not even WAIT. I would just DISPUTE the charges NOW and talk later!

Well... I spoke with the owner this morning and bottom line is, he can't give me what he doesn't have-another receiver. He wasn't sure how or why I got that demo, and didn't feel comfortable promising me a specific date of when I could get a new one since he didn't have them in his hands (I do actually appreciate the honesty there).

He said he would do what he could to make it right - let me use the one I have until the new one's arrive (likely next week some time but couldn't be sure) and offered me a set of HDMI cables or some other cable bundle to salvage the deal or whatever I suggested within reason. He offered a full refund as well, and said he totally understood my concerns and felt terrible that all this happened and would do whatever he could to earn my business in the future. I told him that I'd take him up on the refund and that I'd like special attention given to my Def Tech order. They're arranging a FedEx pick up of the Demo unit probably tomorrow.

I did get with SoundPros and ordered a new unit. I had a long, candid, and exceptional conversation with Scott over there. I know others who have purchased from them and they have an impeccable reputation so I feel good about the purchase I'll have my receiver by Monday or Tuesday and hopefully Digital Craze will have my speakers out to me around the same time.

So for now, it's back to the waiting game. It shouldn't be this hard to spend thousands of dollars on equiipment. It's not rocket surgery. I'm not asking them to build the components... just take my money and put the box on the truck. It's not hard.

Well, I'm glad it is being resolved. The REFUND is good.

It's good they can fix this problem, but it should not have ever happened in the first place. So I don't think I can recommend digitalcraze to anyone else, can you?

Let's hope your speakers are coming DIRECTLY from DefTech and not from them!

I think when I talked to Abt Electronics, they told me that when you order DefTech with them, the speakers would come directly from a DefTech warehouse. So let's hope it's the same case with digitalcraze.

I agree, drop shipping is always best. They fewer times the packages get handled by shipping companies the better. Glad to hear you are making progress getting your situation resolved.

The Def Techs are going to Digital Craze. It's my understanding that is should go that route for warranty purposes. I forget who told me that.

As far as ordering from them again... I don't know. I know things go wrong and for no reason... so I do have some understanding. I really do try to judge not by the mistake, but by what is done about it. I'm not yet prepared to write them off just yet or begin my campaign of ruin. That will depend on what happens with my Def Techs. I feel good about SoundPros. I talked to Scott over there for about 30 minutes and he's sending my receiver out today. I'm crossing my fingers.

I'm getting the Pioneer Elite 94 TXH and the Def Tech 7002's and CLR 2500. I already got the DefTech SM350's about 2-3 weeks ago. I have Sunfires for my amplification so I'll just be using the amp section of the Elite to power speakers in the lanai at some point and I just got a new Mits Diamond 65" DLP and an Oppo DVD player.

Nice setup, you will really like those speakers, I almost got some 7002's, but found a killer deal on some 7001s I couldn't pass up, plus they were a better match for my CLR 3000.

I converted a basically useless family room into a casual, cozy ht. There's nothing scientific about the setup as it will basically be situated the only way possible in the room which is kinda narrow at about 14 or so feet but long and opens up into a large kitchen area. I sealed off a triple glass door to add wall space seeing that we have 2 other triple and 1 other double door going to the lanai.

I honestly think the 7002's are gonna be a bit overkill for the room, but you won't catch me complaining at all. I have a lot of good warm power for them in the Sunfire amps which I think compliment them very well. There's no way I'll get super great accoustics in the room. There's lots of glass, hardwood floors, and granite, but it'll be good for my purposes at least until we move sometime in the next 5 years or so and I can build a dedicated theater.

The TV and the room are doing exactly what I wanted which is taking one of the two largest areas of the house and making them someplace we can all hangout. Before this, the room just didn't work. Now we've rearranged everything, got the ht almost there and we've already found ourselves collecting in the room each day together as a family which is exactly what I was hoping for. I'm gonna buy a Wii this week I thinik. My daughter has decided to invite 12 of her closest friends over in a couple weeks for her birthday party. She wants to have everyone over for movie night... which I think is kinda cool. I think they'll have a lot of fun with the Wii too.

Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have all my equipment in the house and hooked up. I'll be able to take some pics and join the ranks in an official capacity.

btw - I gotta give it up for SoundPros.com. I had a UPS Tracking number for my Elite 94 by 3pm today.

They're really good people there and I highly recommend you give them a look if you're in the market for new stuff.

I appreciate all the good support. Because for most of us, this is more than just a hobby, but a real passion. We invest a lot of time and energy learning about things that most people could care less about. I don't know about any of you, but I imagine you're just like me with limited time and you don't have it to screw around waiting or dealing with crap. If things end up working out with Digital Craze or not, I think it's important to keep you guys informed since it's likely we'll all be buy equipment again in the near future. If it's a place to buy from we should all know and if not, we should all know that as well.

I can tell you that right now, I'm a huge fan of Sound Pros. No BS from those guys. I'm hoping Digital Craze gets me the speakers by early next week like they're supposed to. If not, the trouble will start.

Absolutely man - this is a good thread, and I'd like to thank you for sharing with the community here. I do hope that Digital Craze comes to on this issue as well, if they don't.... well, I'm running out of room for companies to slander in my sig. :( :D

Should be a great system once you get it.

Mitsubishi makes great TVs and Oppo makes great DVD players. You might be so happy with upscale SD DVDs that the wait for your blu-ray player (Sony 350 or Panny 30) might not be so bad.:)

...But the waiting is the hardest part.

I have never heard of Soundpros.com:
http://soundpros.com/pioneer_elite_home.cfm

Did you see that $5,500 Pioneer Elite receiver? 200WPC x 7 w/All Ch Driven! OMG!

Their website is not as user-friendly as onecall or crutchfield, but as long as the service is great, that is what counts.
It's funny you mention that. When I was reordering my 94, I called my wife to tell her about that one. I started telling her how much better it was and that we should probably just get it and be done with it. She said "fine, whatever... I don't understand any of it anyway." I was almost off the hook when she called me back about 20 seconds later and asked how much more it was. She started laughing at me... so back to the 94 it was. That is a wicked looking peice of equipment with the features and specs to match.

Your right about Sound Pros. They don't have the fanciest site, but you can find what you're looking for with a bit of effort and know you'll get it when they say. My receiver is already well on it's way to my doorstep confirmed by my tracking number.

Tell her what a bargain it is because it comes with a TV built in

Then when she complians about how small the TV is tell her that it probably is about time you upgraded the TV anyway:D

UPDATE to the Saga... Potential Happy Ending

Tuesday, I called Digital Craze to find out the latest. They had actually credited me back for the cost of the speakers, but kept the order open. I was told the speakers were coming from a new distributor and they would go out Friday (today). Granted I was a bit skeptical, but after a couple of phone calls, I learned the speakers have already gone out via Yellow Freight and I have my tracking number. I called Yellow Freight to verify, but she said it normally takes 24 hours for the tracking number to go live.

Anyway, the speakers should be here in FL by Tuesday. I have to lay off Digital Craze a little bit because they did ultimately get me my speakers, albeit a week or so late. Sometimes stuff just happens and things go wrong... but I always seem to be on the receivign end of the bad news. Granted they aren't in my hands, hooked up and working, but I'm trying to think positive here.
