Oh brother, this thread just keeps getting worse. Another lazy @$$ found a way to not have to use an instrument to make music. What a shame.

I guessed you missed the point. "The next best drummer," there's no such thing guys, neither the best pianist or guitar player, as for the list....there are quite a few players still alive on that list that can be "classified" more experienced and ARGUABLY "better" than Mr. Royster, but like all things art, it's a matter of taste, once you get passed the technical.

Wow this post is one big waste of time. There are so many great drummers out there that you cannot even begin to pick a "best" drummer. As for drummers go Vinny Calutta is one of the sickest drummers on the planet and also he has been on more records than ANY other drummer.

Actually the title of "most recorded drummer" is usually fought between Bernard "Pretty" Purdie 4000+ tracks, Steve Gadd with over 600 albums and Hal Blaine studio guru from the 60's-70's L.A. scene, but if you count career span I would give it to Purdy as he's been drumming for more than 57 years.

Actually, if you were to read the thread title, you would know it states "next best" in the form of a question. I just thought it would be cool to post the solos for all of you to enjoy. I am a drummer of over twenty years, and the clips are very impressive. Sorry to waste your time.

I for one thought they're cool, but I tend to like most music, except cRap.

Yes I actually recorded him playing with Jay-Z he is an amazing drummer. I also should of read the post a little better, my bad. The videos were good but there are so many drummers that are incredible out there that misreading your post I responded in a quick thought and once again my bad. Sorry it was not a waste of time. Would you like a copy of him playing with Jay-Z?.....

I hope that Tony puts out a strictly instrumental album that mostly features drums. I would enjoy that more than one with vocals or one where the drums are secondary. (This is why I enjoy Blue Man Group's Audio much more than The Complex.)

While that would be cool, I'd rather see him with some real virtuosos of their own instruments. I.E. Victor Wooten, Eric Johnson, Stu Hamm, etc. That would show how he really stands up.
