Wow

Wow! I never dreamed this thread would have come to this. I guess I have that effect on people. Getting back to the point, I appreciate everyone's input. I guess I'll keep thinking about it. My point was to determine if the MWF-15 was the way to go, or just go SVS. I had considered the dual MWF-15's for under 1,000 BUCKS! It seems like a good deal, but there also appears to be a lot of opinions on this.

sorry to have derailed your thread soundman.

but yeah, the dual MFW's would be great if you can get them (or even one of them)

I am probably going to wait until the fall Denver audio shows, check out CEDIA and RMAF and hear the MFW-15 and hopefully the PB13 Ultra in person then decide what I will get.

I'm currently waiting on the 4 to be delivered.

I did buy the Moho colored subs which are very interesting just so I wouldn't have to wait (this was 2 months ago when the waiting list was huge for anything but Moho).

The Moho was cool and all but my chairs are black, my other Martin Logans are black, the walls are dark chocolate, and so the Moho stuck out pretty bad.

I just sold those off locally and went with Satin Black which MLS just called me and told me should arrive within 2 weeks along with the Piano Black LS6's I've ordered.

I didn't host the GTG, I'm in New Orleans but it was in Chicago, I am going to host a small GTG when the LS6's and quad MFW's come in because I'll be one of the first to get LS6's and quite afew people around here wanna hear them.

Anyone is welcome to come, just PM me.

Its near impossible to see in there because my camera sucks and its so dark but those are ML Odyssey panels with bass traps in the corners and treatments on the reflection points on the walls. Since then I've swapped around a lot of stuff though and added traps on the ceiling. Still thinking about getting a fluffy rug, not sure on that yet.

Pics of the treatments I made I actually contributed to the DIY trap/treatment thread:

Not only was I owned by Spiderman, but I’m forced to eat my own words. Tough, day! Very nice room, but that ceiling has some low and difficult angles. Even if you do have it tuned right, you can’t tell me it was an easy task, not with that ceiling height/angle.

Craigsub list

Getting back to the topic, here is some interesting information from Craigsub: http://www.tweakcityaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11 The dual MWF-15's hold their ground pretty well in terms of scoring on this list. However, they don't go quite as low as the Ultra. it's also cheaper. Ahhhh...decisions....decisions

Yes, and Craig's opinion is just that, an opinion.

On his list the U13 stamps over the F113 and a lot seem to agree but a substantial number of others that have heard both have said the opposite.
Some people even prefer the plus/2 over the U13.

Even Craig says to gather as much info from as many various sources as possible before making a decision and, if possible, listen to the subs yourself before deciding. Soundman, do not use his rankings like a shopping list.

I agree with you 100% Adrian....
As time goes on, I would seriously have to say that Subs are a preference and they all seem to have their different qualities, its all in how the sub was designed, and the box's Q will describe closer to how it will start to sound.

I am now lucky enough to own a variety of subs, and can tell you that they are each different in their own way. Being able to sample different subs is an expensive arena. Its like sampling different speakers, and no-one likes to say that after they bought something they didn't care for it, so people usually buy these subs and keep them instead of suggesting that they should have tried something else.

At least in Craig's defense, he is one of the very few that has bought and tried different subs against one another, and can tell you first hand the differences. But remember, that those thoughts His opinion, and only his opinion.

You know what they say about Opinions...

Pulled the trigger on a pair of MFW-15's

Soundman- I was faced with the exact same decision as you. I sold my Def Tech Supercube Reference and bought a pair of cherry MFW-15's for two different theater systems in my home. I did a ton of research and lost a lot of sleep. I was very hesitant to purchase a sub that I had not heard, and would have to wait 3 weeks to receive, but now that it's all said and done, I believe I made the right decision.
I'm sure you would be happy with either one, but the value of the MFW's is almost too good to be true. I'm a very impatient person by nature, so this was an extremely tough call for me. For some reason, it seems like all the subs in this price category that are worth buying are on big-time backorders. That's frustrating to say the least. Good luck with the decision making process and I'll provide an update around the 9th of May. (If I'm lucky, and they ship when they say they will.) On a side note, I found the customer service at AV123 to be excellent.

Thanks for the input. It does seem like a lot of sub for the money. What size are the 2 rooms you are using? Be sure to let me know what you think when they come in. PM me anytime. :)
