Hanging it up after 39 years.

Seriously, I have no life.
After 39 years of medical practice and 29 years six months in my current position, I tended my resignation last Friday to our Health System, with regret.

I have been blessed. I have had what I consider a rewarding career. It has been my joy and privilege to serve the people of North Eastern ND and North Western Minnesota in times of critical illness.

As a few of you I think know, I had a difficult year medically last year, with two very major surgeries. After the surgery in Jan 2007 I had a cluster of serious complications. My last very extensive surgery was October last year.

After taking the advice of my wife and trusted colleagues, with some reluctance I brought my medical career to a close.

These forums have kept me somewhat occupied these last few months. Hopefully as spring and summer come, I can move on to outside activities again.

I will stay active in the forums, especially to try and sort out members problems with puzzling hums, buzzes, thumps and suspected equipment failures. I do wish I could encourage more speaker builders! It is fun, rewarding and saves a pile of cash.

Congratulations on the retirement and sorry it had to be so soon. Everybody seems to have mixed feelings about retirement, but now you'll have more time to put into the other things in your life that make it complete. And you'll have a lot more timet to think about your next audio upgrade.........

You as a doctor know the benefits of a positive attitude:D, enjoy this new found freedom, enjoy your family and know that soon you'll be outdoors doing "your thing." Is there anyway I can convince you to move to Florida? You'll like it down here as long as you stay North of Palm Beach;).

We like it here in the Minnesota lakes country. Our four children and our four grandchildren all live in Minneapolis. Our grandchildren love to come to the lake.

My immediate neighbors to the west winter in Sarasota. Their house is not winterized. They send me huge juicy grapefruits in February.

Thanks for the invitation though.

Sorry to hear about your health but congrats on your retirement. After a career as long as yours, you deserve to take some time for yourself and your family. I hope all goes well and more power to the retired.....More time for audio fun..

It sounds like you really deserve the time, to take a break.

It seems, when one door closes, another opens; now you'll have time to write a book.
Relax and enjoy your grandchildren!
Congratulations.

Thirty-nine years is quite a career by any standard. Congratulations on a well deserved retirement, despite that unfortunate circumstances that prompted the decision. I hope these health issues are all behind you now and that you can pursue your avocations with pleasure.

Congrats on your retirement. Though perhaps not entirely on your own terms, it sounds like you have had more than enough enjoyment in your career, so no worries.

Let me add my congrats to you on your retirement. I agree with j_garcia, perhaps your retirement is not on the terms you might have preferred, but you're still on your feet with all your wits. We should all do as well.

I recently bought a pipe organ CD to play on my new TL speakers. I got it after reading one of your posts about how fond you are of this type of music. I really enjoy it, and it is a hoot to make the dogs in the neighborhood howl if I have some windows open. :D

Congrats on your retirement. Keep yourself busy and all will be well.

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed that CD. The Organ is not called the King of Instruments, without being deserving of the title!
