Inexpensive outdoor speakers.

I currently have an extra receiver and started looking at maybe hooking up some outdoor speakers for my balcony. I was just wondering what brands everyone was using. I am lookin to spend around $70 and they don;t need to be top of the line just something for mostly background music. I have looked at outdoorspeakerdepot.com and sounds like they have some nice selections. All help is appreciated.

I use some 40 buck Duals from Circuit City, they sound just fine for what I use them for and get quite loud. They are run off of zone two from my main AVR.

How have they stood up to the elements? and have you ever tried to turn them up or do you use them strictly for backgroudn music? Thanks for the reply.

They have stood up great.

We light a fire in the firepit about twice a week and hang out in the backyard and drink and cookout. I have cranked these things louder than I have cranked my Paradigms and they are still holding up. Now dont get me wrong, I am very picky on sound but since outdoor speakers are competing with general outdoor noise, I am just not going to spend a lot of money there. I would but these again in a heartbeat.

Even avaserfi, who is the pickiest person on earth thought they sounded fine for what they are...

Check out the Jamo 3A2. I paid $200 for the pair, and I love the ones I have in my back yard. Very full sound, great weather resistance, and reasonable for the sound quality they produce.

Also, Best Buy has the Insignia speakers. I'm using the smaller indoor/outdoor ones in my bathroom. They're not exactly hi-fidelity, but they're fine for background music. Oh, and I only paid $20 for the pair. The also make a larger sized model that some people here have reported being happy with. I'm not sure if the larger ones are indoor/outdoor or just indoor.

I use audiosource outdoor speakers. They are horns, so they carry sound through my whole yard nicely. They are inexpensive, and have lasted 5 years and counting of harsh wisconsin winters! If they die, I'd buy another pair. I use a T-amp to power them, which works just fine.

Thank you for the picture. Hardly even noticed them at first that is exactly what I am looking to do.
