Am I the only one that saw no wires running between the components? Look on the back of the stacked subwoofer, unwired.

That guy and his wife are Fat, yet you're surprised about their excessive lifestyle.

Tough crowd. I'd do things different also, but, if they guy is happy then that's great. I'd love to hear it, personally.

There are no cables because they remove them when they photograph.

The comment about them being fat is just cruel.

The amplifiers in that guy's rig are Mcintosh Mc 2102 100 wpc tube amp's,they use 8 KT-88 power tubes & 8 12ax7 tubes, these amps get hot as all he!!,i dont know how anybody would gauge the BTU output of something like that but if i had to guess my best guess would be close to the heat output of a 1500 watt space heater.I gave mine to my wife to run in her plant room, the damm thing will run her butt right outta there

I ran 2 of these amps in bridged mono along with my tube preamp & i couldnt stand the heat for more than an hour or so,I dont think that guy run's the amp's he has, atleast not all at once,if he does his AC would need to run constantly & then may not be able to keep up.

I would guess most of what he has there is just for looks,i like the look of it all but i cant see it being used very often.

I remember him. I know that he got banned. He was kind of entertaining and I thought he was harmless.
Wow,dolby 2000 or whatever his name was, what a joker that dude was,i always thought that he must of won that free give away contest that Denon had a year or so ago, then dissapeared, the contest was where people could submit their vote for the most convoluted home theater, then the winner received a TOTL complete Denon system free of charge.

If he didnt win i'd love to see what system was worse

Haha.... Clint, that was funny.

Excess? meh... It's common in all sorts and aspects of life, why would us fellow audioholics criticize this excess, especially when it possess such a cool factor.

Interestingly, go here if you want some more information, especially if you are skeptical to the actual abilities and performance of it. From what I've seen and read, Kipnis has done his homework for certain, and not that much was not thought out.

I love those McIntosh's... look like mechanical spiders comming to eat you...

"Can't sleep... clown'll eat me!"

As for them running hot, I'm not so sure myself.

The six (6) distinct divisions: Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Soprano, and Coloratura of this extra large orchestra are completely and separately amplified. The required fleet of over 50 cutting edge, state-of-the-art, hand-built amplifiers can produce a level of visceral and palpable sound that can only be equaled by reality.
The primary orchestra consists of a specially hand selected and modified array of 13 - Snell THX Music & Cinema Reference Loudspeakers, originally designed by Kevin Voecks for George Lucas and Tomlinson Holman for their very first THX Cinema and Music Speaker System (1998). These highly specialized musical instruments feature outboard passive cross-overs and the most exotic of wood cabinetry - African Sapele.
So it would seem that each amp is running a single driver only, so my guess is that it doesn't get too ridiculously hot (though I've never had sucn an amp so I have no experience here). Add to that that each amp is tuned and tweaked specifically... what a massive undertaking.

I'd love to sit in that room for a few years to try some things out :D haha. I think I just fell in love.
