I tend to agree. Much too excessive and from 1st glance, a disproportion amount of money spent on equipment and not enough on room acosutics

This just reminds me of Dolby CP-200 and his JBL ulta awesome set up, but with money.....

For newer people who don't know him he had speakers mounted on his ceiling along with about 20 or so crappy JBL speakers in a small room for "ideal" reproduction....

That actually may not be true. I went to his website and found this about the room:

2250 Sq/Ft. Custom Designed, Two-Story Concert Hall with Vaulted Ceiling & Balcony - 1" Solid Maple Flooring on 4" tall Pine studs - 12" spacing, sitting on a solid 16" reinforced concrete foundation, itself isolated on 4 - 156' solid steel girders all the way down to bedrock. Features non-parallel walls, ceiling, and floor, with dedicated installed noise isolation system, and acoustic treatments designed to supersede ANSI, SMPTE, AMPAS and AES/EBU noise specifications for professional movie theaters, mixing stages, and anechoic test chambers.

2400 Sq Feet - Auralex 4" Acoustic Wedge Foam (applied to all exposed surfaces on the ceiling, walls, and doors) - in Deep Purple, to eliminate screen splash-back and subsequent black level washout and loss of true contrast ratio.
I mean 6 mil you kind of need to be nuts to think people are going to come to you to build them for them. Apparently he has two other more "affordable designs" as well.

This just reminds me of Dolby CP-200 and his JBL ulta awesome set up, but with money.....
I remember him. I know that he got banned. He was kind of entertaining and I thought he was harmless.

Thanks for the update. I guess he did his homework... It just looks so messy with soo much equipement kicking around. I wonder if he's going to have a yard sale anytime soon. :D

Bookmark that site for the next time you get criticized for spending too much on this hobby.

It looks like quite a technical achievement but aesthetically it's a complete disaster. Ambient light from power indicators alone would be distracting. Doesn't look like a comfortable, cozy place to watch movies or listen to music in.

Gets a solid 12 out of 10 for WOW factor.

Don't forget his 19" TV to go with those 20 crappy speakers! :D I have to admit, as the link page opened up I thought entirely of his setup. This setup is so overkill as to be ludicrous. 16 Krell Subs, Cyrogenically treated circuit breakers indeed!

I have to admit I like to be able to get "comfortable" and relax while watching a movie or listening to music. I just don't see it happening in that cluttered cavern either.

Dear Mary mother of god...

I would be too dazzled by all the equipment in that room to actually enjoy the content of whatever is being played.

But, I guess that's the idea...

Now that is some serious surround sound... I would love to experience the war of the worlds scene where the pods emerge from the ground on that system.

I would think jamming dozens of speakers/subs into a single room would create an imaging and acoustic nightmare even if he does have room treatments.

Seriously, I have no life.
I'm speechless.....................

I'd be interested to see what Clint and Gene have to say about a setup like this.
I am speechless as well.
Cryo treatments? Audio grade wire? front speakers at floor level, hiding behind the amps? Two level isolation platforms for the amp?
FR 10Hz to 100kHz??? 10Hz, I can understand, over 20kHz? For that old couple? Give me a break!!!
What is he processing into those 8 ch from a 5.1 or 6.1 master?
Where is he getting his 2k res DVDs from?
All those amp lights turn off when the movie is on?
I bet he has no need for heating in that room but plenty of cooling:D

I think this guy might have redefined the meaning of the word excess as it applies to home theater.
