I've listened to all brands you mentioned. I own the SVS SBS/SCS line of speakers, and I would attest that they perform as good if not better than all fo them. There are higher end models of each (JBL, Klipsch, etc.) Unless you're going to go for the Klipsch Reference series (which many people find fatiguing to listen to over time), your best bet would be the SVS. Pair them with a good SVS sub and it will rock circles around that Klipsch Synergy 10 you have too.

These are all comparably priced models too - let us know your budget and there are plenty more recommendations that can be made. You can also check out the AV123 Encore series here. I haven't heard them, but reviews are fantastic.

Good luck. :)

I've certainly never heard every speaker brand that exist. But of the ones I have auditioned, no matter how good I thought they were, at first, after awhile I usually find, in some way, they're lacking, compared to the JBLs I've owned for over 30 years. I'm not talking low end JBLs either.

My current HT system, JBL Performance Series, one would have to spend many $k more(imho) to get better. Even my 30 year old L212s, that have upgraded XOs, are superior to many of today's current speakers.

Of the speakers I've heard over the last 6~8 years, that weren't JBLs, the only ones I had serious thoughts of buying were James Loudspeakers.

I've read many posts, on various forums, where people had bought one brand of speaker or another, and thought they were great, until they heard quality JBLs, and then traded up.

It's all a matter of taste. Better is subjective. Some people will prefer Polks or Klipsch over SVS. Others will prefer the SVS. SVS does have a great 5.1 package which is tough to beat for the money.

If you are talking about in the same price range for a package, then yes, the SVS will stomp anything from JBL, Polk or Klipsch.

Unfortunately I think latter model JBL's and especially those on the lower end of the price range lack the superior quality that exists in your set. I worked with the JBL Professional line for quite some time, and I left thinking nothing could beat a JBL - that is until I heard the entry level consumer line. Apparently the superiority doesn't trickle down that far. Just my opinion of course - there are others who will argue that they sound terrific - as someone above mentioned, it's subjective either way. I'm thinking, based on his suggestions and what is listed in his signature his price range fits him right around the JBL Venue series, Polk Monitor series, Klipsch Synergy series - for ID brands, SVS or AV123; either of which would outperform the former. JMHO.

Always let your ears be the best judge though, and go for what sounds best to you. ;)

That's what I always tell people.
I've had JBLs for 35 years. And over that time JBL has had a number of models I would not buy.

For the last 30 years I've been listening to the higher end JBLs; L212s, PT800s. Certainly not the cheapest of speakers, by any means. But the PT800s can be had for cheaper than one might think, less than 1/3 of list. But hard to find at those prices.
