Sure? But what do you mean by good enough? A receiver can last you for a very long time so if you decide to get better speakers later on you will be set on the receiver. Is there any specific feature of the 805 that you want? Because you could also go for the 705 and save some cash.

If you're concerned about the 805 damaging them with excess power; don't be.
The question should be: Is the 805 overkill for your needs?
Can you make due with a less expensive receiver and possibly save for a speaker upgrade in the future?

I should of said overkill I paid 653.00 and herd good things about the 805 I have a kenwood vr 6060 now and wanted a upgrade. will the speakers sound better ?

Hey gus, I understand your good intentions, but right now the 805's price difference with the 705 is almost negligible, I believe... $699.76 with free shipping from Amazon. That's only $65 more for an increase of current capabilities of 36 amps for the 705 to 60 amps for the 805. Also has Burr Brown DACS (I think 705 is Cirrus Logic?), Ultra2 vs Select2, and a 3rd zone. I think the amp section improvement is worth the $65 alone.

I was going by MRSP prices alone and not current online deals. But at the sale price the 805 is a sure thing.
