Anyone know anything about The Speaker Company? I was at their web site. They look real but I can’t find anything on them. I like their P series speaker but the price seems low. They have a decent return policy but I’d like to know some more first. Anyone? Thanks

It looks like they are a legit company, but I wouldn't take a chance on the speakers when there are so many other options out there for virtually any budget. This industry is flooded with so many companies now, one can afford to take his time and just listen. If you are going the ID route, I would recommend, Axiom, AV123, Aperion, Ascend, Swans, and many others. These companies have gotten good reviews you can read, are well respected, and all have good return policies. Their customer service is top notch as well.

Perhaps they are "legit". Legit companies come and go like the wind these days. So, for what it's worth, I'd use caution. There are many reputable, established companies with speakers for every budget. And if they extend the lack of care in the quality of their speakers that they display in the verbiage on their website...I want no part. Pieces is spelled "peices" on this page, the P series the op was referring to. etc., etc., etc.

Well, all companies have a starting point furrycute. And most are fledgling at the beginning. I dare any fellow audioholic that has seen or heard these speakers to come forth. I've never heard of them, and have never seen them referenced here at Audioholics. That's not a huge red flag to you?

And isn't it ironic the op's name is red wagon (RedTruck literally), as in "I'll paint your li'l red wagon."

I mean, I don't get it. All these companies are internet direct companies. Just because av123 and SVS got a head start, and now has the market cornered, it doesn't mean they can now just kick out other newbie competitors.

av123 and SVS started just like this newbie 6 years ago. No one had ever heard of them. Through some rather aggressive advertising, look where they are today.

I'm on the fence furrycute. Perhaps they're phenomenal speakers at half price as they advertise. I submit they first have to prove it, to me at least. That's called skepticism, and it's warranted in this case. That's the way of the world. Either way, a typo on their website is also a red flag (to me). Is it not to you?

I'm skeptical of any website using testimonials. Testimonials have no value whatsoever unless given by reputable sources, and in the vast majority of sites I've seen online offering them, there is always something gimmicky or shady going on.

I'm not saying that this is the case with this company, I'm just saying thats my gut instinct on it. I'd gladly give them a try to see what they have to offer, but not at my expense. I'd gladly hope on the bandwagon if after I've heard them in person and tested them and felt they were a good quality speaker.

Interestingly, I checked out their sub's specs. Here and I think this pretty much says a lot. The quick blurb states the subs FR to be 35hz to 200hz, and when you go down to the page to the specification tab it states 65 Hz – 20 kHz. Its obviously a typo, but that leads to some obvious questions I think. A company that is legitimate, thats trying to prove itself, and is offering good quality products will want people to know that. They will provide as accurate as possible data, and make sure (especially when its an ID company) that the information on their webpage is as accurate as possible. Anything less is not professional, and does not bode well for them.

So like Johnd stated, they have to prove themselves first. So if you have an extra $200 lying around to try'em out, then by all means please do. And let us know your thoughts on them.

I am not defending this new company by any means. I am just drawing a parallel here. Since people on this board seem so enamored with av123 and SVS products, we should be clear as to what about those products we are all excited about.

With regard to those unsubstantiated testimonials, well, check out av123 and SVS's websites, they have PLENTY of those testimonials.

With regard to trying out stuff unheard. Has ANYONE ever heard of a pair of av123 speakers or an SVS sub before hitting that buy button? I guess the way around that is by offering a 30 day in home free trial. And at the end of the day, return the speakers with no restocking fees if you don't like them. I am sure this new company has a similar return policy.


Seems to me that this new company is exactly copying the business practices of av123 and SVS. If people now find this sort of business practices so objectionable, where are your voices against the business practices of av123 and SVS?

Personally, no. But if I were to audition them, it would be because of the recommendations here at Audioholics. I had not heard of them (SVS, av123) before joining here, and I trust this site.

That's fine furrycute. Av123 and SVS have one heck of a reputation here, as well as other sites. They've paid their dues. No one seems around here seems to have heard of this company before...that's the point. (And the fact that they have no proven track record).

If however I was in the OP's position, I'd sooner invest in a well established company for now until some more quality reviews and credit become associated with this particular companies products.

And what happened to all those people who sanely questioned outlandish product claims from av123 and SVS? They were literally crucified, everywhere. As to by whom, you guys are more than intelligent enough to figure that one out.

In all honesty, I would not risk my own money on this new company, or on av123, or on SVS.

I just don't feel that it is right for the older guys (av123 and SVS) to bully against this new kid on the block, especially considering they all come from the same family tree.

Either way, this fledgling company has yet to tread the proving grounds...and that is what is necessary for me. Understand, again, that I am not ripping on them, just skeptical. I will not give them the benefit of the doubt just yet. There are to many good speaker manufacturers out there. I will let others skate the thin ice, and if "The Speaker Company" is still around in a couple of years, and I am in the market (unlikely, I love my 'digms and my AR's) I would then consider them.
