I like the black frames because all the components are also black.

...But that wood also looks pretty good.

I say just let Carolyn pick whichever looks best to her!:D

You are right, it was Soundman:p

okay, okay....yes, you're right...it was me. :) Actually, everyone that is married here is PW'ed, even if they don't admit it. So, I'm not just picking on Greg. :)

Tough call. They both look pretty good...for different reasons. Yes, it is nice to have the black tie into the equipment but that nice looking professional trim on the GIK just screams "quality product". Either way I don't think you can go wrong. Let us know what the wife picks.

I'm not PW'd. I just know that she's smarter than me.:D

Edit-I am so not PW'd. Screw her. Who does she think she is anyway?

So what did the wife end up saying? What happened with the panels?

So far it looks like the RAs are staying behind the speakers and the GIKs are at the first reflection point.

Care to give us a comparision of the acoustics pre/post GIK installation? Any noticeable difference (apart from cosmetic) between your DYI solution and the GIK one?

I dont think there wil be a difference from one panel to the other as they both use the same medium to perform the duty. Right now I have 6 panles in the room and my system sounds the best it has but I doubt that all 6 panels get to stay. Next up will be running a room program to see what works best and where. This will likely wait until Andrew is back in town on his next school break.

I can tell you, I have conversed with Glenn on this forum a few times, and have always been impressed with his knowledge and assistance in learning about room treatments. When I get down to it one day and start utilizing panels in my own setup, I won't hesitate to purchase from GIK. They seem to be a class-act company.

The black frames really do look stellar! :)

Gotcha....so the basic gist is there is no apparent difference :) I'll still be very interested to see your room readings!

Hmm...I think we should take these readings before or early into the drinking. I foresee a fight with the mic stand, after all he is a pretty cocky prick, and I am just not sure who would win after 5-6 martinis.

That reminds me - remember measurement equipment when going to Texas...

Who's a cocky prick?

Early in the drinking would be around the first 10 minutes you are here if I remember correctly:D

They are both awesome looking panels. Gotta leave the black behind the equipment, it looks much better.

So you have one of the new GIK panels in the window now? Does that have any affect on the wood? :D

OH WOW I did not even know this thread was going on!!!

As Greg told you all at the start we did run into just about every damn problem you can think of with the first panels going to him, so for months I have had his name on my "MAKE THINGS RIGHT" list. :D

Greg the pictures are looking great and if you don't mind send me a couple pictures when they are hanging. I would like to put them on our website. :) Keep your eyes on the website we have the new Pillar bass trap coming in about 2 weeks. :)

Aww man, now I'm going to be worried about it catching on fire :) Have to find a way to hang it between the window and fireplace. They are gorgeous though.
