Rocket rs850's and rs1000's

Thank you mazer, as always you are a fount of link ideas. Gonna audition the B&W 685's since they won just about every affordable speaker award on the planet and probably some of the paradigm studio 20's or even 40's. Although i would like some feed back on a smaller sub, 10" or down, or a reason why a big one would be just fine as well. I would also greatly appreciate feed back from anyone that owns Outlaw subs since I have heard a lot of good thinks coming out of that company in the entry level of hi-fi.

the room is about 16x12, the long wall being the area that the equipment is located on and there is one permanent opening on the other side of the room that opens to a small dining room and kitchen. I have found over time that I'm not a huge fan of ridiculous amounts of bass, even with my klipsch sub-10 I get annoyed with it very easily and rarely watch an entire movie with it on. this could also be from the quality of the sub as well, but it seems to give me a headache, or i could just be a hypochondriac, you just never know. thanks again for the help

I think there might be something wrong with your sub. I don't see how you can enjoy a movie with the sub turned off better.

Shoot the Klipsch sub-10.

not quite to that point yet. although i may be getting a big box store discount soon so i may be looking at some deftech bp7006s being within my price range for some "for now speakers". built in sub solves that problem i think

If you ever repace that sub, i'd recommend getting an SVS sub. Even if you aren't a bass head, good accurate bass will still sound much better even at low listening levels.

There's a big difference between a powered woofer and a subwoofer...

But they are not the same as a conventional subwoofer. The enclosure is designed different.

yeah, but if im realatively happy with my B-3's and mildly impressed with their ability to handle bass, im sure the amount the deftechs put out would be good enough for now. although with my major upgrade im looking very heavily into rockets and an svs from everything ive heard from you guys here.

Just don't want you to be disappointed. I don't see how an 8 inch "sub" in a tower enclosure, can produce good clean bass. Certainly not down to 17Hz like their website claims.

Can you listen first?

I will of course listen first. I live 5 blocks from a magnolia store that carries them . all i really want is a little more extension into the bass region, and im certainly not expecting 17hz, but the speakers that i use only go down to 55hz just about anything will be an improvement upon that. But i do appreciate you looking out for me, that's why i like this forum as opposed to some others when you would have shunned me as a dilitant (sp?)

I think I recommended some Polk Audio RTi's in this thread. Also look into the LSi series. Both go down very low. Surprisingly low.

Those will be at the top of my audition list if i don't get the job, if i do, employee discount is just too good to pass by especially since they are a temporary solution (only a year or so).
