I really hope the LoTR Trilogy (thats New Line, correct?) will not have DTS-HD MA. Looking forward to the uncompressed audio for that. Well, it does look possible for the PS3 to at least decode MA and send it as PCM.
Yeah, I worry that LoTR (New Line) will also be DTS-MA!
There is still hope since Lions Gate just put a movie w/ PCM, instead of DTS-MA.
Panasonic said for a while that they could one day upgrade the DMP-BD10A with a firmware to decode DTS-MA. Guess what? After a while, they decided that it could Not be done!
When the Samsung BD-UP5000 first came into the scene, it was said to also decode DTS-MA internally. Then later, we found out that it could NOT. It could send bitstream only.
Now word has it that the new Denon DVD-3800BD will be able to decode DTS-MA internally. But we will see.
So apparently, DTS-MA is very difficult to incorporate.
To me, internal DTS-MA decoding requires a HARDWARE upgrade. I thought Bitstream was their best bet, but if they can't do that, I don't see how they can just make the PS3 decode DTS-MA internally.
For all the PS3 users' sake, hopefully I'm wrong!
