Now see, even though I subscribe to the objectivist mantra, ie we couldn't "hear" the difference between that Nagra? cdp and the OP's Rotel at one tenth the cost, if I was Bill Gates and money no object, I would buy the Nagra every time. Not because it costs more, but because it is built to much higher standards.

That's important and will be even moreso when we develop 100 lb. CD's. Ah! Nagra! I thought it looked vaguely familiar to the old Nagra portable tape recorders. Those were awesome performers. Glad to see they stayed in business by changing technologies.

Wow. Freaking Nagra. While I'm the first to admit I probably wouldn't tell that from my trusty old Denon DCD-1560 in an ABX test, I'd love that rig if I had the money to burn....I'm a sucker for gear that's built like a tank! With that caliber of industrial design, sometimes ya just gotta. You have to hand it to the Swiss...they know how to do precision construction with artistic flair.

That is hard to say what it is worth for what you get
If you are paying for audible benefits, then most likely not worth it.
But, there are other reasons, as stated, engineering, Sherman tank feel, or perhaps this is an Abrams Tank?
Swiss precision perhaps? Display at a Museum for all eternity?

Since you brought up Bill, I read about his house being built. Stainless steel lumber connectors and ties, everything visible had to be flawless, rebuilt an entire section, millions, as he didn't like it, moved a tree 6" etc.

I agree. Well, to a point. You almost had me thinking you weren't materialistic. Actually, many of the Ferraris are the best automobile investments of all time.

But when ya got 60 billion or so, I don't think you're counting 14 grand here or there. (Actually, I think Gates does).
