Opinions on sub selection

Well, it was basically a haphazard assumption based off of looking at the rear view of the BFD. It has a left and right input, left and right output, and my receiver only has one subwoofer output. I had been using a Y-adapter for my JBL sub which had two (L and R) inputs, which I hear would net up to a 3 or 4 dB gain in output.

I would really prefer to keep it as simple as possible and not have to tweak too many things at once of course, so you're basically saying the same thing I was, except to run it through one channel of the BFD, or loop it through the second channel and then run it to the sub(s)?
yes. but looping it is really unnecessary. you get a gazillion PEQ's per channel already ... so looping will get you a gazillion x 2. :D

note that you gain 3 to 4 db in output SIGNAL, and not subwoofer SPL output. so, other than having problems with two low a signal not triggering the auto-on of the subwoofers, using a y connector there is also unnecessary in normal circumstances. :)

looking at your sketch ... i'd prefer the RS location for the subwoofer.
and IMO, I'd skip the BFD for a second sub, one in your existing location and one to the right of the couch (RS location)

You've got it. Here it is.

Great pic Halon! Is there any opening directly behind your couch, or is that area walled off?

I would place the subwoofer either in the front left corner (where your bookshelf is), or near your couch if possible (either sideways directly behind your couch, or next to your couch on the right hand side).

It was the best I could do with MS Paint. :) The area behind the couch is indeed walled off, and the picture doesn't really represent the room's dimensions accurately. There isn't as much space between the couch/coffee table and the entertainment center as there appears to be. I've had the JBL sub as close to that left front corner as possible for some time.

I once attempted to move the bookshelf out of the way and shove that baby right into the corner where it belonged - yeah, that operation was aborted as soon as my wife came in and caught me in the act! :D

Incidentally, I no longer have the JBL, so I am officially sub-less at the moment. It's parked back in the store where I got it, thank god. It will cause me no more grief.

Onkyo 705 AV Receiver (Beast) this thing = Oh my its a freaking Firebreathing monster.

Then we now have SV Sound Speakers, 4 bookshelf speakers, 1 big center channel (8 x 20) and yea I "Upgraded" the Sub-Woofer 12" x 325(?)
watts, seperate "BASH" Amp.. The sub is the size of a 2 draw file cab. the wife and Sub don't like each other, go figure
wife wanted it to go back, told her "Its a guy thing, its staying, your fish tank is out".

Last night wife went out, so the boys and I fired up Die Hard 4 ........ I got a headache from holding my breath during the action shoots, (which was pretty much the moive) The couch was pulsing, the coffee table was moving, Wife came home with 20 minutes left in the movie.... The look of horror on that womans face when she walked in that door:fmad. We could see her mouth moving, but no sound came out.

I did it. I just placed my order for the SVS PB12-NSD. I figured instead of going for a larger sub initially, I would get this, try it out, and if I like it, maybe get another of the same, and then add the PEQ stuff later on if it becomes necessary.

That seems reasonable enough anyway. Thanks to you guys for all of your help! :) I cannot WAIT to get this sucker!!! LOL :D:D
