That was the biggest surprise when I got the amp. The great thing of having that much power is that clarity at low level listening is as clear as a bell! I turn my system on at 6:00am to listen while I'm getting ready for work. The volume is at -50 and I can hear every note being played clearly.
When I just had a Denon receiver powering my speakers, the volume had to be all the way up to -30.
So while I could rock the house if I wanted to, most of the time I don't have to because it's so clear at a lower volume!
The other thing I love about the Sunfire amps is the weight. It is one of the very few 5 channel amplifiers that I can manage to lift.
So if you can spring for a Sunfire, go for it, you won't be disappointed & you will probably never go back to just letting a receiver power your speakers. I know I won't!
The other thing I wanted to address is if you're going to use your Nad receiver as a prepro, then the sound should not change. The only thing an amp should do is amplify the sound, not change it.
Thanks for the info. I agree I would like to have equal watts to each speaker. How is the Sunfire at low level listening. All I hear about it is how wonderful it is at high a volume. During a movie how is the dialog compared to your outlaw?
