NAD or Denon: thoughts?

I am looking to buy a new a/v system and would appreciate readers' thoughts on 2: Denon 2930 (or possibly 1940) or NAD T585? I am using a Pioneer Elite 1140HD monitor with (at this point) Def Tech Mythos speakers, and either a Denon 2808 or NAD T755 a/v - - thoughts here are appreciated, too!

I will use the system for tv/movies (65%) and music
(35%), but when it comes to the latter I listen to a lot of classical and jazz at moderate volumes. Both DVD players seem to be very close in many respects, though the Denon seems to use a bit more technology from "today."

I would vote for the NAD. I recently upgraded my NAD T 763 to a Denon 4308 . I am not convinced I actually upgraded. The NAD just seems to have an edge and really good sound separation, of course I could just be imagining things, but the NAD was a solid performer. Once NAD comes out with DTS HD-MA support I think i may 'upgrade' again lol!

Unless it is SACD and DVD-A that you are after, I would not buy any SD DVD player at this point and instead be looking at one or both high def formats. SD DVD is already "yesterday". For the difference in picture and sound quality vs the price of the players, there is simply no comparison, both HD formats are far ahead of SD.

of course, with the PS3 you get SACD as well, another reason NOT to go for a sd dvd.
