http://www.buy.com/prod/newpoint-204210-10-outlet-home-theater-surge-suppressor-with-smart/q/loc/111/204213291.html

From Buy.com, $59.99 with free shipping for this 10 outlet model. They also have a smaller 8 outlet model for a few dolars less, and a 12 outlet model for a bit more. I think the 10 outlet model is the sweet spot for the price.

I bit the bullet and ordered the 10 to replace my old Belkin unit. This thing is built like a tank and definately seems like a high end item. It looks at home with my theater components.

I am willing to admit it is placebo, but I seem to notice a slight improvement when adding this to my Oppo SACD player, JVC RX-D702, and DefTech Mythos towers. It could be my imagination. Bu for the price you can't go wrong.

The problem I see with this unit is that those outlets are not independent from each other. But for that price I really can't nit pick.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't notice the replies. I'm not sure what else you want to know.... the $59.99 unit (10 outlet) is the model I have. It is about the size of a decent surround receiver: similare in size to all the midrange Denon, H/K, and Marantz units I have ever had. It's a bit bigger than my current JVC digital unit.

I'm not so sure if it does true power conditioning (feeding out a sine wave and all that) or if it is just EMI/RFI filtering. I could have swore I read that it has a proper sine wave inverter, but I can't find that info anymore.

Anyways, it also has telephone connections, and coaxial cable connections (for your cable or Dish or DirecTV signal). 2 of the outlets are "always on", the rest are controlled via the front power button. It has indicators on front telling you what the power level is (mine hovers between 115 and 120v).

It is a really solidly built unit, probably not quite on par with some of the Panamax/Furman/etc offerings.... but then again those are many times more expensive.

Here's a bad picture of mine in my old temporary setup, it's the best I have.

I just bought this-> http://www.buy.com/prod/Ethereal-ESP3014-3240J-Power-Protection-14-outlets/q/loc/111/205014380.html yesterday. I wonder how it compares to the one in the first post. I got it bacause I needed something affordable to replace my Monster HTS1000. The Monster only has 8 outlets and I now need a minimum of 12.
I really know nothing about power conditioning, surge protection,:) and all that stuff.
Any comments or advice would be appreciated and thanks.

it actually looks like a beast. 14 outlets is a lot, i wonder how large it is.
and 250,000$ protection seems low compared to other brands, but thats prolly sufficient. im curious of its lay as well once you get it post pics !

So on the Newpoint surge protector, is it really helping?

I am debating on the purchase because it seems really cheap to me.

Good find Carl.

So far I'm happy with my purchase. I just made all kinds of upgrades to my system, so I can't really be sure, but I THINK I am hearing an improvement. Those of us with digital receivers like JVC and Panasonic could be more likely to get that benefit. Then again it could all be in my head, and I just like the cool blue lights.

Either way, I like this unit. I don't know if it is actually a power "conditioner" outputing a sine wave, like the units from Panamax and the rest, but it is also way cheaper.

Ok I have to admit, I just placed an order for the Newpoint unit.. For that price, it's hard to resist regardless of whether it is as good as the more pricier Panamax units or not. I bought the 12 outlet one though. Beefier unit because you never know when you might need that extra outlet or two. For $11 more, it's a no brainer. Cheers! Thanks.

A quick comparison of the specs to the $299 Monster unit at big box today looks like this is the hands down winner; so I just bought one. Thanks for the find, project86.

I bought the 12 outlet unit for $62 (google checkout). It should be here tomorrow or Friday. I will let everyone know what I think!
