Hello,
I'm sure you guys hear this a lot, but I know nothing surround sound. and I need a little help.
I have the following:
TV: LVM-42W2 - www dot westinghousedigital dot com/details.aspx?itemnum=44
XBOX HD-DVD - www dot xbox. dot om/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360hddvdplayer/
Explorer 8300HD - www dot scientificatlanta dot com/products/consumers/new_explorer8300HD.htm
MythTV box via VGA
My goal is to have all of the above (with the possible exception of the myth box) to have surround sound.
Q1: I would like a surround sound system all in black, with tall speakers (that I can place on the floor with no stand) and to have matching rear "wireless" speakers in the back. I can not find any - anyone know where to get this? If I can not get this without the DVD player, I'll simply pick it up. I like how this looks www dot vanns dot com/shop/servlet/item/features/501899906?v_c=BizRate will it work with all the above? Could I "piece" a system together?
Q2: I have a DVD player already... Why do all these packages come with standard DVD players? Can I just get a receiver and speakers?!
Q3: I read that the 360 HD-DVD player has "optical out" for surround sound, but they look like regular component (red and white) outs? I have the following cables - www dot xbox dot com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ Are these in fact "optical" cables? I thought optical looked different. Is this the best possible cables for the 360? (I have no HDMI out on my ver)
Q4: My DVR box (explorer) is connected to my TV (monitor) via HDMI, if I use the audio out on my TV to my surround system, will that be true "surround sound" once it hits the box? Like, does it degrade the quality? There site says ".....or you can use them to optimize the center field of your existing surround sound system. Convenient switched stereo audio outputs allow the ultimate flexibility for external receivers and surround-sound processors." so this brings up another question; Can I simply just use my TV for all my components? Any cons to this?
..Help!
TIA
P.S. I had to edit the links as I do not have 5 posts yet - sorry!
