is oppo going to get in the HD game...?
T The Dukester Audioholic Chief Dec 13, 2007 #2 No, at least back in October when I sent them an email about it. They said that at this time they don't feel the HD formats are "mature" and that they are all about making something mature better. You can send them an email and see if they have changed their minds yet.

F fmw Audioholic Ninja Dec 14, 2007 #3 I think the truth is more likely that they are way, way too small to be able to handle the technology licensing. I.e. I don't think the big boys will license the technology to them at a level they could afford and still be competitive.

j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Dec 14, 2007 #4 I don't know, if they are based in China and there are already Chinese HD DVD players in the market now, that could change. At this point though, I haven't heard of them coming out with either format.

smurphy522 Full Audioholic Dec 27, 2007 #15 Well it seems that Oppo Digital will be releasing an upgrade to their ever popular 981hd. At least Secrets list it as the winner for 2007 (not sure how as bothihng is released on Oppo's site) Now that 983 will truly output 1080p via ABT, if I recall. So it is true HD! However the 981 is also HD @ 1080i. Heck even my old 971 outputs 1080i/720p. Isn't that HD?
