I just saw the movie. I thought it was wonderful. I didn't real realize it was a trilogy. After seeing it though, it is very clear. The movie does a wonderful job of introducing the characters, setting the scene, and leaving you with a great taste in your mouth that has you wanting more.

I kind of think this will be like LOTRs. I am can't wait for the next one to come out.

On a side note, this is not as much of a kids movie as I thought it was. It had alot of action and people getting shot up and stabbed. Oh well, more action for me!

I really enjoyed the movie, saw it on opening night.

On anther note, I found that the Narnia was actually very close to the book and would not say it was butchered at all

I am concerned about some of the variations I saw in the Prince Caspian trailer;however, I guess in the end we will have to see how it turns out. After all Peter Jackson's LOTR was not a word for word adaptation and was very well received by almost everyone. So we should not pillory Andrew Adamson if the movies turn out well. And the first one certainly did.

I saw this yesterday as well, and I thought the key to enjoying it would be to go in with uber low expectations. Despite that, I actually found myself enjoying the movie!!

The storyline while typically fanstasy like, was highly orginal (at least I thought it was), and the world and environment was well built with a good background. It felt like they thought a lot about it, and it definitely shows.

I have only two complaints:

While the movie had a tremendous cast, some of the other actors though left a lot to be desired.

The pace for the movie at times lagged sometimes (and by this I mean, events didn't seem to be advancing the plot measurably) and a few plot events seemed rather contrived. It felt like one of those moments where had I read the books I'd know what the movie was referring to

Anyway, this part felt like a good solid foundation for the story. The sequel I presume will really carry the plot.

I just bought the books off of Amazon, and I am about 1/3 of the way done with the first book, and it is MUCH more detailed. You get a lot better feel for the first characters, which I know they could not have done in a short movie like they do in a 360 page book.

I know they kept the movie under 2 hours for kids. Had they added about 30 minutes and kept some of the beginning for the book it would have added more foundation.

I've read the trilogy twice. First about 5 years ago and just this last month in preparation for the movie.

I'd give the movie a "D" or 1 star out of 4.

The storyline seemed staccato and stilted. I love all the actors and the cinematography was excellent. It just didn't flow and didn't entice you to want more. Unlike the books that are hard to put down.

As far as leading our children to atheism is concerned I just don't think kids get the underlying occult message. My kids didn't come out of Narnia wanting to go to church more often or read the Bible any more and kids won't come out of this saying "well that's it, that whole God idea is BS". It's a cool story with a great new "imaginary" world.

That's what the director's cut extended edition DVD is for, which will come AFTER the regular cinema version DVD comes out.

We all went to see it tonight, on Christmas Eve no less. I thought it a good family action fantasy movie. If the various Churchs are upset it must be guilt over their behavior during the inquisition. For ourselfs we did not read that much into it and just enjoyed the movie. It was wonderful to have Sam Elliot take part. He has been a favorite of mine for a long time.
